has anyone started Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred & given up because your legs hurt? I see lots of success with this dvd with peoples before & after shots but they stuck to it 30 days in a row without a days rest.

I know this would help me and I would see results but I cant keep the motivation to continue it! I do good for 2-3 days then my legs hurt so bad I give up.

If you have stuck to it, how did you get beyond the painful legs? Mine were so bad I would have to grab onto the towel rack in the bathroom just to sit down and pee.

    Haha. I remember that...
The first time I did 30DS it sucked...I hurt, a lot! If all of her crazy lunges bother you, drop your weights or do one lunge for every two she does.

Just tailor it to make it work for you...just remember to keep pushing yourself.

Yes, the first time I tired it I couldn't even move the next day! Second day on it was much more easier! Take an Advil before starting the workout to help out with the pain :)

I am on day 6..and I feel like I have shine splints. I've been icing my knees and shins and going out for some ibuprofin today. I'm trying to just work through it.

I got up to day 4 and then the weekend was sooo busy I didnt get it fit in so I am going to start over. By day 4 I was doing better. I think your legs and muscles will get used to it if you make yourself push through. I know what you are talking about with the holding onto the towel rack lol.

If your legs are hurting that bad then you should take it a little easy if you want to continue. Dont go so deep into any of the leg moves so you dont strain yourself. As you get further into the 30 days pick it up a little at a time so you dont over do it! Good Luck!!

Her DVD had my knee hurting....and I run 5k 3 times a week!!!! So I would say that it is really bad for the legs. The only way I was able to do it without bad pain is taking away my shoes. I do not know why but it made a word of difference

Tonight will be day 9 for me. The first 3-4 days were so hard - EVERYTHING hurt! Arms, legs - ALL movement hurt! (Even sitting hurt - must have been working my glutes! )

It gets better. In fact I do worry sometimes that I'm not working out hard enough now (even though I'm a big ol' sweaty mess by the end) because I'm not in pain...but I'm going to start Level 2 on Friday (or Maybe Sunday since I know Saturday is going to be a day off anyway), so we'll see how I feel!

ETA: To deal with the pain between workouts: When I'm at the office and need to go to the restroom, I'll do arm crossovers (like in the DVD) on the way down the hall, or modified butt kicks - still try to kick myself in the butt but not "jogging", just walking. Just keep some motion/circulation going so my muscles aren't sedentary throughout the day. It seems to help a bit.

Along with the other suggestions of not pushing yourself as hard, are you all stretching properly? I've never done the DVD but the exercise DVD's I have done don't impress me with the small amount of stretching at the end!

Okay, chica...I have joined this 30 shred thread here on MFP, so we can all do it together, and I am one not to continue anything. Every time I got a new DVD my hubby tells me why did I buy it cause it was only going to collect dust with all the others that I have there. So I decided to get the 30 day shred anyway, and joined this thread for motivation, & right now we are on L1D3. and I do wake up sore as hell, but after the warm up its not so bad. Honey, "BEAUTY IS PAIN" it is not going to be easy cause if it was everyone would still be "FAT" So stick with it, cause I know you can do it, DEFINATELY...

I just completed my 1st week of the 30DS and the soreness is going away. The 1st 3-4 days were the worst. My thighs hurt so bad I could barely get myselft down to a sitting position and felt it terribly when walking the stairs. I found that her stretching afterwards was not enough for me, so I found some great thigh stretches by googling and it helped tremensely! Stick with it, I promise it does get better.

If you need to, modify the moves to fit you. I did my weigh in today and just for kicks decided to check my measurements of my waist and hips -- all are already moving in the down direction. It gave me the inspiration to make it through todays workout!
