Using calories?

I sometimes don't use all my calories for the day (I'm losing 1lb per week), anywhere between 100-400 calories...do you think it'd be terrible the next day to let myself go over just a bit? I've learned it's not good for me to ignore hunger for too long, brings back a bad habit, so I try to eat filling foods and not go over.

I think using your extra calories the next day sounds fine.

It's fine. Many people average out their calories over the week so they can eat more some days.

I do a weekly calorie deficit. I was a bit under yesterday, I worked out late last night and just had a protein smoothie before bed, I was actually 200 calories under the 1200. This is not the norm but I was running around all day, missed my usual lunch and just had another protein drink around 4pm to stem the hunger while I did a few more things then made dinner. Dinner was fairly low cal and left me at around 750 calories, the protein drink afterwards only added 200. Then I went to bed.

Had my breakfast smoothie right away this morning, and I'll probably have elevensies shortly, my usual lunch tends to be between 3-4 pm. We eat dinner late, around 8pm. Anyway, more room for snacking today!

This also works if you know you have a holiday or fun weekend or evening coming up, you can bank those extra calories during the week and still be in a deficit after your fun day.

I wouldn't do it long term, and what you don't want is your fun day to ruin the calorie deficit you built up over the week.

Your energy requirements don't reset every 24 hours...energy in and energy out is a continuum so your weight management is not predicated on any one particular day, but rather what is happening in general over time...so yes, if you're under one day, it would be perfectly fine to be over on another.
