I get this regularly, how many calories would you guess this is? The pic is from Yelp, it looks like there's a bit less rice when I get it, but still a lot of white rice.
Some chopped chicken strips with some breading, some sushi, scallops, and a pile of white sticky rice.
I'm pretty bad at guessing how many calories are in restaurant foods. At least this one doesn't seem to have lots of butter or grease etc. Thanks

Hard to say 600+0

About 900-1000 I'd say. That is a lot of rice. A couple cups at least.0
-
Thanks, that sounds about right. Just tried adding all the individual items with guestimated portions, came out to 1079.0

Almost impossible to tell from a picture. I'd say at least 1000, possibly more of you added sauce.0

It's definitely an art guessing.0

anything breaded and fried is going to be high.0

1200? Thats a lot of rice and a lot of breading.

Definitely 1000+ in my opinion. Everything there is high calorie.0

This would be my guess, too. That's a pretty decent sized portion of fried chicken strips, which I'd guess to be about 300-400 calories alone, plus if you add about 2 cups of rice, sushi, and scallops...0 -
600 seems too low. Giving each piece of the roll and fried shumai a generously low calorie count of 60 each, that's already 420 calories. That mound of rice is at least 200 calories. Then you have breaded and fried chicken, pieces of fish, and the sauce to consider.0

Ya. I missed the sauce.0 -

Agreed. That is definitely a 400 calorie plus serving of rice right there.0 -

You think that's 2 cups of rice? My picture sizing skills clearly need to be re-calibrated0 -
I accidentally wrote gyoza but I meant shumai for the bottom left food. Those are not scallops unless this is a really out there Asian fusion restaurant.0

I'd say about a cup and a half at least. I think that plate is deceptively smaller than it looks though, if you compare what the sushi looks like size wise. I know my sushi place usually gives about 2 cups rice in a bowl.0 -
I guess maybe less than two cups of rice now that I look at the size of the plate. I just ate a crap ton of rice so I'm a little off haha0
-
With all that rice, I'm thinking 750.0

They are scallops, same as any seafood place, not shumai. But I can see how they might look like that. You're only seeing the outside (breading), I ate what was inside. =P
And there's less rice than that pic when I get it, but thanks for all the estimates, always a fun art0 -
Very hard to say - my guess is anywhere from 900 to 1200 calories. When I'm unsure, I always err on the side of caution and choose the high estimate. I'd log this as 1200 calories.0
