The same reason I wear a seatbelt in the car......

I prefer to wear compression shorts rather than conventional cotton underwear when I'm working out because the cotton gets wet and gross feeling from sweat and it keeps the boys securely out of harms way.

I do wear compression tights for my longer runs in the later stages of a race training cycle. The jury is still out in terms of science based benefits but I do feel less beat up after a 20km run than I would otherwise (could be the placebo effect, could just be old age...)

I wear compression shorts under my actual shorts. One for the comfort and it keeps everything secure. Two it saves me from having to hold my shorts whenever I do an exercise where my legs are elevated

Nice advise Jesse thanks so much... In the winter time do you wear long pant ones?

I like them because they help keep my boys from straying too far into the bar path

There is no scientific evidence that compression clothing aids in recovery or helps any kind of athletic performance.

But they stay in place while you move around, are mobile and let you move, don't soak up a ton of sweat, and keep the boys safe and sound. Which is enough good reasons to wear compression shorts without making up BS about it helping your performance.

I wear it for modesty too... I don't like my shorts riding down exposing my crutch - the compressions are good for that.

Almost all my shorts have an compression type insert - running or gym. Keeps everything in place, reduces chafing.

For my Krav classes I wear the compression shorts with the cup built in. Krav is big on groin kicks so the reason is probably quite understandable. But even on my normal cardio workouts and weight lifting days as others have said "keeps everything in place". Not only that but when doing stuff like squats and deadlifts with regular boxers or boxer briefs I'm constantly having to fix them after each set where the compression don't ride up on me.

Compression all the way. Love under armours version

I do just for logistical reasons. Nothing worse than trying to get a good workout or run in and you have to stop because your twig and berries are swinging around with their hands in the air like they just don't care. Not a good sensation...
