Is it a good idea to use syntha 6 protein shake as a meal replacement for weight loss? Is so which meal should be the replaced meal?

    I don't think it is.

One of the benefits of logging your meals, and keeping those meals to a "normal" meal is that it teaches you what a sensible amount of food is for weight loss. This translates well into an understanding of what is a sensible amount to maintain - which is an important life skill.

Replacing meals with shakes or bars will give you a weight loss (if the calorific deficit is right) but will not teach you anything about portion control.

Also, I just looked up Syntha 6 protein shake - it is a whey powder designed to give decent chunk of protein with minimal calories.

It is not intended to be used as a meal replacement since it contains little fat or carbohydrate. If you do choose to replace a meal with a shake (and as stated above, I don't recommend it) don't replace it with Syntha 6 protein shake alone. Either add in some carb and fat or find a meal replacement shake tat contains these.

Protein shakes are not meal replacements, they are supplements. They are not nutritionally balanced to be a meal replacement.

On this note, Synthra 6 protein shakes tastes horrible :)

Also, do you plan on eating meal replacement shakes for the rest of your life? If not, why not learn how to eat normal foods, in a healthy manner, while trying to lose weight?

If you want to lose weight, all you need a calorie deficit. You can achieve that in a number of ways. Shakes are not necessary and gives no extra "boost" or anything. Advertisements often lie.

Ask yourself why you would want to replace a meal. If you are overweight, chances are you like to eat.

Thanks for all the responses I agree me being overweight is a combination of the lack of self control and not enough activity I will continue to just eat normal foods and create a calorie deficit. Also will start living a more active lifestyle.
