Lost 2 & a Half Stone but now need to tone up, looking to get leaner. Its not about the number on the scales its about how you feel. I feel a lot happier and healthier and I'm now working on gaining strength. I want to be strong not skinny!

Good for you. Find yourself a good strength routine: StrongLifts 5x5, Mark Rippetoe's Starting Strength, Ice Cream Fitness are good. I hear good reports of New Rules Of Liftiong For Women but can'ty comment on it personally.

Also, to get the most from a strength routine you would be best advised to gradually up the calories to a little (200 -500 cals) above maintenance. This can be a bit of a trial and error thing so it's best to gradually add in the calories 100-200 at a time whilst monitoring your weight and measurements. Don't freak out about daily or weekly fluctuations, instead, look for the trend.

also - I know what you mean by "tone" and don't have a problem with people using that word but you will come across some snarky posts if you use that word in MFP too often.

thanks for the comments! Yeah I get what you mean about toning. I basically mean I want to lower my body fat percentage and gradually increase my muscle mass. I will have a look at the reports you suggested. Thank you :)
