Hi guys,
So I have been logging in and have been on track for about a week now but today I am feeling that all too familiar urge to binge.
I honestly just want to eat everything right now but I know that if I do, it's going to lead to a HUGE binge, thousands of unwanted calories and feeling bloated and gross tomorrow.
Looking to you guys for some motivation and support to not give in. What helps you when you feel this way?
Thanks so much

This is a lifestyle change and not a diet. There will be times throughout our lives when we don't always have the most nutritious foods available, and sometime we just want to enjoy an old favorite. You need decide whether you can have a single serving of a treat food and work it into your day. Is it doesn't fit your calorie goals then you might want to skip it. Giving yourself permission to enjoy a food without guilt may make it easier to enjoy just a taste.0

What sorts of things do you want to binge on? Any way you can have a smaller packet/bar?0

Don't give in to the craving. Wait at least 20 min, usually the impulse will pass. If it doesn't, try to substitute with something healthy like fruit or yogurt. Drink a ton of water. Also when the impulse hits try to do something physical. Go for a 10 min walk. Get up and do a set of 10 squats, lunges, and/or push ups.0

Mainly carbs and sweets. This happens a lot and i think i need to get out of the "diet" mentality and view this as a lifestyle change. I just reach this point where i'm like "i dont really care today" and then eat massive amounts of food.
I don't restrict myself from any food group though so i don't know why i feel this way sometimes. I'm also not under-eating.0 -
What do you have your calories set to? I see you posted something in December asking pretty much the same thing and you were eating 1,200 a day. Maybe you need to add some calories per day so you're not so hungry, if this same issue keeps coming up.0

How did you sleep last night? I sometimes have craving days when I am overtired.0 -
Honestly, asking for help before you binge means you're on the right track. You're doing better than me at least..
Are you perhaps bored when you want to binge? That tends to be one of my triggers.0 -
I get that way. I try and make sure to incorporate things that I want to eat regularly, but in smaller portions. Sunday I had waffle cookies and a square of chocolate, it fit in my macros and it kept me from getting nuts (I really wanted ice cream). I don't think it's unusual to have those sort of cravings, they can be signals from your body as well as your mind just getting crazy.
If it's really bad, I try and get out and do something, take my mind off of it, or if I can't go out, watch a movie, read a book, play a game, work out, something to distract my brain.
In the literal term we all diet (the kinds of food that a person, animal, or community habitually eats.) but it definitely helps to try and remind yourself you're not on a dreaded 'DIET' where you can has nothing. It's hard, but try and get through it, it seems to make it easier!0 -
I was trying to look at your diary but it must be private. Sometimes it's what you eat during the morning and afternoon that will make you binge later. If your blood sugar is not kept in check it will spike and crash. What do your breakfast and lunches look like?0

Buy a 5 lb bag of carrots and two head of celery, binge away.0

Have you read this? http://ellynsatterinstitute.org/hte/whatisnormaleating.phpWhat is Normal Eating?
Normal eating is going to the table hungry and eating until you are satisfied. It is being able to choose food you like and eat it and truly get enough of it -not just stop eating because you think you should. Normal eating is being able to give some thought to your food selection so you get nutritious food, but not being so wary and restrictive that you miss out on enjoyable food. Normal eating is giving yourself permission to eat sometimes because you are happy, sad or bored, or just because it feels good. Normal eating is mostly three meals a day, or four or five, or it can be choosing to munch along the way. It is leaving some cookies on the plate because you know you can have some again tomorrow, or it is eating more now because they taste so wonderful. Normal eating is overeating at times, feeling stuffed and uncomfortable. And it can be undereating at times and wishing you had more. Normal eating is trusting your body to make up for your mistakes in eating. Normal eating takes up some of your time and attention, but keeps its place as only one important area of your life.
In short, normal eating is flexible. It varies in response to your hunger, your schedule, your proximity to food and your feelings.0
