Well you wouldn't tone your arms at all even if you used it non stop. You can't spot reduce fat nor can you "tone" a muscle. You can increase size/mass, then show more definition through fat loss.

They don't work. They make a great white elephant Christmas gift though.

Just because something is tiring, makes you "feel the burn," or whatever, doesn't mean it is an effective training tool.

If he only last two minutes, you probably don't need the vigorous training supplied by the shake weight.

Great necro thread though. Imma check out that SNL skit.

The Shake Weight is old technology now, they've come up with much more effective home workout devices. Check into the Tug Toner instead:

Bake to the shake weight If you already have one using it will help your arms tone up. It's doing more than doing nothing. When you can do it easily you may want to move onto weights.

Get a chin-up bar for your door way or somewhere and if you can't do full chin-ups do partials or even just hang there and hold your weight, far far more useful than this stupid contraption. Push-ups while you're waiting for something to finish cooking, just about anything else.

There is no such thing as "toning". You're either making a muscle bigger or making it smaller, you can't "tone" it. What most people consider "toning" is losing the subcutaneous fat covering the muscles to make them appear more defined. A Shake Weight will do absolutely nothing to help. It's nothing more than a silly, useless gadget made to look legitimate by ridiculous hype advertising.

Hopping on one foot in a corner while slamming your head into the wall is "more than doing nothing" too - but it's not going to help anybody achieve their fitness/weight loss goals.
