I don't stop cravings, I manage them instead.
I've lost weight by eliminating foods I like, BUT when I got to maintenance I had problems and re-gained. I had no idea what a serving of chocolate looked like or how many calories it had.
Now I allow myself a treat everyday. I like Ghiradelli squares because they are individually wrapped. Dark chocolate gives me more chocolate flavor (and less sugar). I also have some individual ice cream treats (WW ice cream sandwiches). I need to choose, I need to log, I need to stay accountable.
You can attempt to substitute fruit for something sweet, or air popped popcorn for something salty. But unless you can give up sweet & salty snacks forever....someday you will need to manage. There are of course certain things I need to keep out of the house, but that doesn't mean I never have them. I can eat a piece of cheesecake (or part of one) at a restaurant for example.
If you are craving too many things, perhaps you are overly restrictive in what you deem "healthy." You don't need to eat perfectly to lose weight, you just need to eat better.
These threads have great advice for newbies..........

Drinking lots of water really helps.
Plan meals ahead and aim for high protein/ fat at each meal for satiety.
It takes time adjusting to less food that you might be used to but you will adjust.
All the best for your weight loss0 -
Cut carbs, cut hunger. Start by keeping below 100 grams a day.0

Try building a diet filled with proteins and fats and decrease carbohydrates to very small amounts. Proteins and fats are the micronutrients that provide longer lasting satiety and minimize hunger & cravings for some people.0 -
Are you eating the right amount of calories? Way back in my first days of MFP I had the thought that I SHOULD be on a 1200 calorie diet because that's what you do. But it's not. So make sure that MFP has calculated the right calories for you (or a TDEE calculator if you decide to go that route, but at first I'd stick to what MFP tells you) and eat those calories, see if that helps curb the cravings.
That's not to say that they may go away completely and that's perfectly normal - almost everyone gets a craving now and again, but it's as @TeaBea said, learn to manage them. If I'm craving chocolate super bad, I have a piece of chocolate (go good quality, and as dark as you can stand - antioxidants, and at least for me, the dark chocolate is so strong I get my craving cured). If I want pasta, I fix a serving of pasta (try brown rice or quinoa pasta, they're pretty good).
Also, don't eliminate any food from your diet (unless for medical reasons), that's a good way to end up on the kitchen floor at 2am hugging a pint of Ben and Jerrys sobbing to yourself "I did my best".
If you do, don't beat yourself up (that may lead to more bad eating because at that point, F-it), just get back up and keep going.

I drink a nice warm cup of tea when i get cravings, that usually makes me forget my cravings completely.0
