Hello,
I need to adjust my allowed daily calories on this app. I'm a breastfeeding Mommy and I would like to maintain my milk supply yet get some weight off me. I need to consume a minimum of 1800 a day. Any suggestions?

What i reccomend is to track your eating for a week. Dont cut calories yet, just get a daily average. Then set your mfp account to lose .5 - 1# a week. Slowly cut 100 calories each week until you get to the amount of calories mfp has given you...unless you see a drop in milk production. Then increase calories again.

So lets say you are currently eating 2200cals a day and mfp reccomends you eat 1800 (just made up numbers). Eat 2100 this week...2000 next...1900 the third week and 1800 the 4th. If at 1800 cals you still have enough milk, great! If not, go back to 1900/2000.

Eat at 1800cals for a month (if supply is ok) and then you can cut a bit more each week, if you choose. Most women dont have to go under 1500cals unless very short or very sedentary.

I had real trouble trying to lose weight while breadt feeding. Any deficit affected my milk, and also I would get so hungry I'd end up eating rubbish food, ie anything I could get my hands on. I ended up trying to focus on not gaining weight, and also increasing the healthy foods in my diet. After my baby weaned I was able to start losing much more easily. Good luck with whatever strategy you use.

12wbt by Michelle Bridges the 1800 breatfeeding plan. I lost 18kgs xx also great short Exersize videos, plus videos about PND, having a baby, recovery etc and exersizes that remind you to hold your pelvic floor. otherwise fitgirlsguide if you have Insta account (but I think 12wbt although more $$$ has more specific resources) otherwise healthymumma is another one. Good luck xx

@Anabbee OMG me too!! Breastfeeding for me initially I put on soooo much weight (even more than when I was pregnant). Then I went on a program and lost. I could only feed for 4 months though but that runs in my family. (My mum, nanna and most aunties have a problem with milk supply).
