Hello Everyone,
I am new to this website. I currently weight 220 pounds and my first goal weight is 180. Once I reach 180, I plan to make a new goal until I am at a healthly weight and living a healthy lifestyle. I would appreciate any healthy advice and recipes suggestions.
Thank you,
Bridget

Drink nothing but water, with the occasional glass of no sugar added juice or skim milk. Go with fresh fruits and veggies (or frozen if fresh is somehow unavailable), low fat everything, especially dairies, lean meats, and whole grains. It's not as hard as you would think. The Thomas' Whole Grain Pita Pockets are absolutely delicious! Get in your daily goal for cardio, as that's what really burns through the fat and calories. Keep up with your food and exercise tracker, cause that really helps!
Welcome to the site, and I hope you find everything you're looking for!
"Recipe" for the previously mentioned pita pockets:
Pita Pocket
1 cup of Lettuce
1/2 cup of fresh spinach
1/4 chopped tomato
1 Tbsp of avocado
some shredded lot fat cheese
2 strips of turkey bacon
Comes out to around 200 calories, definitely filling, and beyond delicious! Definitely worth it.0 -
Those pita pockets look good - I don't personally do lowfat other than milk and cottage cheese, I just calorie count and I don't go hogwild with fats (mostly because fat adds calories). Fat is flavor and when you are trying to lose weight flavor matters!
My fat protein and carb intake naturally is falling pretty close to the recommendations on mfp so if yours don't then you might need to watch it but I'm not having issues with it.
My recommendation is not to try and make a lot of changes at once. Don't try to eat low carb AND low fat AND calorie restricted AND workout 3 times a week all at once.
Start with one of those things and when its natural for you, add a second one. If you make too many changes it is hard to maintain for most people.
This is a rule from personal finance but it applies to diet too (And other things) -- you only have so much willpower per amount of time, make sure you use it on big things instead of burning it up on small things and then not having it when you really need it. so start with calories and then move on to other things - you might find that you naturally limit yourself on all the other stuff while you do it.
Also, give yourself splurge days or meals - just make it very clear in your mind. "Tomorrow is my birthday and I'm going out to dinner, so I'm going to splurge but the day after tomorrow I will be back on my calorie counting!"0 -
Thanks everyone for welcoming me to this site. I am excited about this new journey. I know its not going to be easy but I know it will pay off in the long run with me losing weight and living a healthy lifestyle. I am thankful for the great suggestions that you have given me.
Thanks for the Pita Pocket suggestion, I have been wanting to try them, but I didn't know a good brand to start with. I will try the Thomas Whole Grain Pita Pockets first.
Thanks again Everyone!!0 -
