How many calories do you input for Zumba?

I've Googled it and it seems the prevailing range is 400-600...I'm doing my first class today and I don't see Zumba in the exercise database. Anyone have any contrary information on the calorie range burned for a one hour class? Thanks!

I figure an average of about 500 per workout.0

I did 500/hr and when I got my HRM I was close to that number, sometimes over if I really go into the DVD.0

Zumba is not listed on the exercise list, you need a heart rate monitor in order for you to get an accurate count of the calories you just burned. Before i had my hrm i logged it in as dancing general but it was way off. I was actually burning more calories than what it was telling me. So i suggest you get one. I got the personal trainer by timex at amazon for $39.99 normally $69.99 so i got a good deal.0

Before I got my HRM I logged it as high impact aerobics.... on average I burn about 500 calories for 45 minutes. I am 5'9 and 179lbs so depending on your size it would be different0

I also do Zumba and I LOVE It! I looked up the calories lost during aerobic dancing and used that. But it doesn't seem to be as many calories as I had hoped!0

My Bodybugg says I burn close to 600 calories with 60 minutes of Zumba. I also did some comapring... And your "high intensity aerobics" category in MFP is pretty close.... Close enough, anyway.0

It really just depends on the instructor. I am actually a Zumba instructor and in my classes I burn upwards of 1000 but mine are pretty intense. Although I have been to a different Zumba class with another instructor where I only burned 368 calories. I wear a calorie counter so I always know how much I'm burning. You can find them at Academy for $50! Not sure this helped, but it might give you a little bit more perspective.0

I can tell you what my HRM tells me. Can vary anywhere from 330 cals to 480 cals depending on who is teaching & how energetic I am lol.
I'm 42, weight 142, hight 5 foot 4 inches and burned 456 tonight.
I can't recommend a HRM highly enough - even though in itself the cals burned are only an estimate, it is a better estimate than any 'guess' on the internet as it will take weight, height, age and heart rate into consideration.0 -
I got some advice from another forum that a girl did some research and crunched number can came up with the formula of [your weight] x 3.6 = [calories burned from Zumba] within a ONE HOUR span. So that is what I use because our classes are always one hour.0

Most of my students don't pump it as hard as I do when I teach and I burn 670 per class. I would say 480-500 cals. Also you can use "dancing, hip hop" or something like that on here and it will put you close.
I wear a HR monitor/ calorie counter watch.0 -
Correction: It is called "dancing, ballroom, fast" I just gave me 467 for 60 minutes.0
