Real sugar only, please. Does it exist? I'm also a vegetarian. I will be having surgery next week and I was told that I need to take in a lot of extra protein after, to promote healing. I can not even force myself to drink most protein powder (I tried vega and others) or eat most bars because I hate the chemical t
aftertaste of stevia and artificial sweeteners. I am considering pb2, but I'm not sure of the protein percentage compared to calories or how it would work in a shake. At this point, I am considering eating a lot of vegetarian hot dogs...lol. 50 calories each and 7g of protein each that I can tolerate...and egg whites. I just would prefer to mix it up a little with a shake sometimes, no pun intended.

This is what I use since I'm not a fan of the sweetener aftertaste either.

Amazing meal chocolate infusion is vegetarian and made with organic cane juice as the sweetener. For 130 calories it has 12g protein, 4g fiber, and 7g sugar. I really like it post-workout blended up with almond milk and frozen raspberries. I've also used Nutiva unsweetened organic hemp protein powder, which has 90 calories, 15g protein, 8g fiber -- this one is definitely on the gritty/grassy side which does not appeal to some but I don't mind. I add a spoonful of hot cocoa mix to this, almond milk, and banana/frozen fruit.

I use naked whey. It has 1 ingredient - whey protein. 100% grass fed, gmo free, soy free...I love it!! It smells a little like yogurt and doesn't have a lot of taste. It wasn't until I started using it that I realized how MUCH sweetener is in every other powder. This is so great. Enjoy! I got mine on Amazon. NAKED WHEY - #1 Undenatured 100% Grass Fed Whey Protein Powder from California Farms - 5lb Bulk, GMO-Free, Gluten Free, Soy Free, Preservative Free - Stimulate Muscle Growth - Enhance Recovery - 76 Servings https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NBDMN8U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_j8-6wbZYRMC6M0

Use NOW SPORTS natural unflavored Whey Isolate. None of that crap in it. Flavor and sweeten it yourself.0

Have you tried it? I am wondering if it blends or shakes well with some fruit juice or some sore of low fat "ice cream" or something. I might try a couple to find one I can drink down. Maybe one unsweetened and one flavored.0 -

oh. I don't usually use whey so I think it slipped my mind, but in this situation I'd be willing to try any powder. Unless it had like ground up bones it haha which I doubt exists.0 -

That first one is pricey, but looks good! Do you think Whole Foods might have either? Thank you for the suggestions.1 -

I'll check that out too! & see if it's sold near me. Does it change the taste of your shakes at all? Is there any particular shake you lile it is? Thank you, and everyone else, for the guidance!0 -
If its flavoured then it's sweetened, either naturally with sugars or artificially with sweeteners. When I'm not using a flavoured powder I use an unsweetened whey isolate which I add vitafibre to, it sweetens it while adding much needed fibre.0

Have you tried adding things to your protein shake? I usually use 1-2 servings unflavored protein (gnc whey i think) 8oz original almond milk, 1tbst cocoa powder (unsweetened) 2 tbsp PB2 #delicious at most I get 40g protein with a trivial amount of fat and best of all natural sugar!0

Bob's Red Mill makes a hemp and soy protein powder that are just the protein powder -- no flavor or sweetener. You could use one of those and add whatever you like.0

In my limited research for no additives to my protein powder, I have Hemp protein powder to be the answer. In a previous post some replied giving a like to purchase same. One downside is the taste. It is a bit raw tasting.0

I use Natural Factors 100% Natural Whey Protein. No artificial sweeteners. I've only used the French Vanilla0

I just bought some aloha protein powder to try. It is sweetened with coconut sugar and is plant based. I will probably try it sometime this week... I'll let you know1

Brithicks, what did you think of the Aloha protein powder? I just bought that one myself.
