I'm starting off at 185, 5'4. I want to get down to 140 reasonably quick. I have 3 kids and plan on walking with them. Any one have any suggestions for me on how long this should take.

1 to 1.5 pounds per week is around 30 or more weeks.

I started at 165lbs about a month and a half ago. I want to get somewhere around 125lbs and at my current rate of 1lbs week this will happen around October. To keep at 1lbs per week on average I eat at ~1200cal/day and do no exercise (health issues).

Why the rush? If you're looking to make a lifetime change it shouldn't matter how long it takes you to get there.

Figure a year. Then if you manage more quickly it will be even better.

It's true rushing = very low calorie = yoyo weight loss on and off
Slow you won't feel deprived have energy etc

Rome wasn't built in a day you didn't gain weight over night aim for 1lbs a week you'll have weeks oh 0 losses more than 1lbs plus an occasional gain

I'd give it a year too tbh if you don't you could be 40lbs heavier instead it easily happens with yoyoing

I was thinking the same thing. As you get lighter, it becomes more difficult and slower to lose weight (because the margin of error between weight loss and maintenance/gaining is smaller).

With only 45lbs to lose, I would shoot for 0.5-1lbs per week (1lb for the first 15ish lbs, 0.5lbs for the rest), which would take about 75 weeks. That gives more than enough time to learn how to maintain any dietary changes (because a quick fix would only result in a quick gain of all the weight once you return to your "normal" habits) and time to be a little loose in tracking every now and again without feeling guilty (vacations, holidays, etc).

For comparison, for me to get to 170 to 130 (5'6), it took two years, but I know that I made changes that I will be able to use for life-long weight maintenance.

I started at 170 February of last year and just broke 129 last week. I am sure if you stick to it it will go a little quicker but, you have to take your time so it stays off.

Hi! I am at the same weight, same goal, but twice the kids! I just left my full-time day job last week so I'll be staying home with the kids this summer and working overnights part-time. I want to be active with them, walks every day, and just lots of outside time. I just added this app yesterday so I'm still learning but perhaps we can be friends on the app? Good luck!
