Does anyone take anything for energy?

I've seen some people use powders and supplements for energy but I've never tried anything. Is it okay to take and do you think it works?

Coffee for me, I don't trust anything else. OTC stuff can be dangerous.

    Short term, only caffeine.

Long term, I have found that a well-rounded diet and regular exercise give me more energy overall. Well, that and sleeping well.

There's no really great, legal (safe) quick pick me up.

Caffine. I often drink a half to full 8 oz. can of sugar free red bull an hour before I work out.

200mg of caffeine in pill form with a glass of water.
Sometimes I also take Cellucor HD as a pre workout...but not in addition to the caffeine or I'm intolerable.

I take a pre-workout. I like it. I really waited until I absolutely needed to though. It's definitely not necessary all the time but now I don't like working out without it. Just have a bit of coffee and a snack pre-workout if you need a kick.

    Coffee, food, exercise.
    Oh and sleep.

I'd suggest you look at what's missing in your regular day first (not enough food, not enough sleep?) before you look to supplements.

Just regular food, especially carbs, and a bit of caffeine.

Joking aside: I think whether it's OK to use energy powders and supplements depends on what's in them, and how much. Some stimulants are more risky, some things touting "energy" are mainly sugar, and even caffeine in larger amounts is not really a great idea. I wouldn't try to answer the question generically.

If you don't have enough energy, I'd say that first you should be sure to be getting adequate calories, solid nutrition, and enough sleep. Powders & supplements are not a substitute for any of those, on an ongoing basis.

There you go. Fix the regular day. Skip the stimulants

Caffeine helps get me going in the morning. I try and eat healthy and take multi vitamins, iron and a krill oil for omegas. If you are eating healthy and enough calories, then I would just listen to the body. If it is tired and needs a rest, let it rest. Make sure you're getting enough exercise but at the same time not overdoing that too. Check the quantity and quality of your sleep. It's all about balance.

Apple plus coffee before exercise, then good sleep, metabolism takes over from there as long as all else is balanced

Pro Bar Raspberry energy chews before my more intense workouts. It could be psychological, but they do seem to give me a boost. I'm a slow starter, so if I take them 30 minutes before, they help get me going.

Black coffee in the morning and I've been adding a little coffee to my protein shake too (mainly because my current one tastes kind of gross and the coffee helps a lot with taste)

Overall for me sleep, getting my body moving and regular meals have been sufficient in giving me energy. I got a sample pack that has some pre-workout in it so I will update once I try it
