Doing too well?

So I drank some alcohol this weekend and I wanted to make sure to properly hydrate myself to make up for it. So the day after I drank a ton of water. The day after that (today), I had lost 3lbs. I was not well enough behaved last week to be down 3 pounds. I know you lose water weight in the beginning, can you lose it in the middle too?

Maybe you were better behaved than you thought. When I drink I always wake up 3-5 lbs lighter, I think it's dehydration, for me. I'm up to normal soon after. I don't know the scientific term but happens every time.

It's the effect of alcohol - in brain it blocks antidiuretic hormone which usually has effect on the kidneys to 'save water'...when it is blocked it causes increased urinating. That is the main reason that alcohol causes dehydration that cannot really be countered by drinking water. With ADH blocked you will lose more liquid than what you consume.
