T25 advice

Hey all! I just started the Focus T25 video (3 days in) and I am finding it incredibly difficult. I have to stop frequently and do some of the modified moves. Even so, I'm sweating up a storm when I finish. Do you think it would be better for me to keep pushing through this routine or should I find something a little closer to my level? I did the 30 day shred prior to starting this and although I sweat and suffered I was able to complete most of the routines without having to take breaks.

Just some background info incase it matters to the advice you give - 29 year old female. 147 lbs, down from 164. Used to be relatively fit but have spent the last few years being pregnant or caring for a newborn with very little physical activity.

Thanks!

I'm now onto the beta phase (started week 2 today) and throughout the alpha phase I always followed the modifier until week 5 when I felt able to follow Shaun T although I still occasionally follow the modifier in the beta phase when I get tired. Definitely keep pushing as I was ready to give up after week 1 of alpha but it is totally worth it in the end! Good luck!!
*edit: I'm 19 and 198.4lbs. When I started, I was 201lbs! Also I never did any sort of exercise until I started T25. Now I'm able to do two workouts a day.

Just pace yourself as best as you can. I found myself stopping several times; especially with Total Body Circuit. Start off with just doing the modified moves and begin to incorporate the more advanced moves when you become stronger and faster. See it as a challenge and to do your best to bust through it. Rooting for you.

Sounds to me like T25 is the perfect program for you. The modifier is there for that reason. You go as hard as you can following Shaun and when you have to modify you do. Then the next time you do the video you go as hard as you can and each time you get better and better until you no longer need the modifier. As far as "sweating up a storm" goes.. well done. Nothing to worry about there. Let the sweat flow!

My advice. Stick with it. Do the Alpha phase until you can do a good part of the videos without modifying. Even if that means doing the Alpha phase two or three times. The entire point of that phase is to get your lower body and core built up. Then Beta starts to incorporate more upper body and weights, resistance, and less breaks. Because the Alpha is so heavy on the lower body make sure you are really stretching out those calves, glutes, quads etc daily.

I started with T25 a couple of years ago and it's the perfect introductory program. Stick with it, follow the schedule, and give it all you have each and every time and you will get better.

Thanks everyone! Maybe all I needed was to hear some rah rah encouragement. I'll try to stick with it. Thanks! :)

I did this program for a few weeks shortly after having my daughter, but decided I need to focus more on strength training as I'd managed to continue cardio and some body resistance training right up until I gave birth. Anyhow, I got back into T25 October 2015 and was alternating that with Jillian Michael's Body Revolution (rotating full weeks of each program). From October to the end of January 2016, I had such great success. It will test your fitness and your ability to press "play" day-after-day but I can guarantee the results are worth it. I started up Insanity: Max 30 right after I finished the T25 and Body Revolution hybrid. Really liked it but this week I'm starting T25 back up. Today was my first day back and I missed it. I liked Max 30 but, for whatever reason, I think my body responds more positively to what T25 delivers. In regards to you maybe needing to try something else, Tonya is there to offer modified moves. This is done for a reason: so all fitness levels can get into this program and grow with it. I never needed to use the modifications but I LOVE that Shaun T has this option. This is a program you can really develop with. Start with the modifier, get through the program...then maybe go for another round, without the modifications. Good luck! I can promise that if you stick with it, you'll love what you get out of it!

I found myself able to follow Shaun T for most things (I started off at a reasonable level of fitness at the time I was doing this program) but there were some workouts when I just could not keep pace. Speed 2.0 and Speed 3.0 in particular. For those, I did the same moves as the regular demonstrators but just did them at a pace I was able to keep up with. So going more slowly is another option.

Actually I am thinking about incorporating some of these workouts into my routine again. They are some of the most challenging cardio I have done (I have not tried Insanity...).
