Sore knee - not another injury, please?!

I am a runner - am training for my 2nd half marathon and seem to have fudged my knee in the last few days. I gave the running a rest today but need to run tomorrow (missed out on 10 days due to a blister!!!)

How am I going to "fix" the knee?! Any suggestions as to how I can reduce the risk of hurting it again? Could it be my shoes? I bought my current pair in November and am guessing I've run a few hundred miles in them...

Would my knee improved if I lost weight? I'm 5'5" and around 140-145lbs...

Thanks!

Taking rest is probably the best thing you can do. If after resting it, you try running and you are still getting pain, it would be advisable to see a DR to rule out anything major.

Shoes are the basis for good running so make sure you are getting fit for your specific foot and pronation/strike pattern at a running store. The shoe material breaks down after awhile so if you've run a few hundred miles on them it may be time- the average mile span is between 300-500 miles on shoes before you need to get new ones. But as a seasoned runner you should be able to tell when your shoes are not performing for you anymore.

    Good luck!

See a physio or doctor to find out what's actually wrong with your knee.
