Opinion: Just look at your urine to see if you are hydrated.
If it's cloudy, or brownish, or very dark yellow, you need to drink more water.
You should be able to read a "pretend newspaper" at the bottom of the toilet.
If it's a bright yellow but see-through, that could just mean you ate a meal with b vitamins.

no, unless you're selling the water to the misguided drinker.

    no?

It's recommended for men to drink 3 liters of water a day (80% of a gallon). I personally believe, however, as long as your urine is clear you're all set. no reason to force down a ton of water when you're body is already hydrated.

I feel good with a gallon a day. There probably aren't any advantages, per say, except that I am well hydrated for my workouts.

In general, you should try to drink between half an ounce and an ounce of water for each pound you weigh, every day.” E.g., if you weigh 150 pounds, that would be 75 to 150 ounces (128ounces = 1gallon) of water a day. If you’re living in a hot climate and exercising a lot, you’d be on the higher end of that range; if you’re in a cooler climate and mostly sedentary, you’d need less.

Also, if your urine color should be pale yellow, also if you feel thirsty then you already are dehydrated.

    All the best.

I shoot for about 100oz a day but i know i go over a lot. Like yesterday i drank almost a full 100oz bottle plus a liter bottle and had my 40oz hydroflask with ice cold carbonated water; so thats like 160oz which is way more than a gallon. But i dont drink that much every day, maybe once every three days. I also sweat tons like soooo much sweat so a lot of my water intake is to refuel my bodies sweat glands lol.
