HOW IS IT POSSIBLE TO GAIN 13LBS IN 1 WEEK????
Nothing is wrong with me, I recently had my physical bloodwork etc etc everything fine.
Could this be from my TOM? I am due any day now with TOM.
I think maybe my scale needs new batteries or I need a new scale, ive had this one for a few years now and my brother who is a trainer used it this morning also and it said he was 10lbs more then what he was 3 days ago.
UPDATE!!!!! LOL I JUST USED THE SCALE AT THE GYM AND IT SAID 209.6...... SO MY SCALE IS WRONG! ITS DEFINITELY TIME TO CHANGE IT!! LMBO!!!

WHOA!! I personally have never had that much weight gain with TOM but I think unless you are eating like 20,000 calories a day or something, you arent going to gain that in a week. I think its impossible.0

The scale sucks. It's TOM and your scale is on crack. You'll be okay - just don't weigh in until AF leaves the building.
Hang in there.

I'm not entirely sure that is possible. 13 lbs?? In 1 week??? You really need to consult a doctor on this if that's the case.0

Its probably a combo of TOM and something with a high amount of sodium in it that is causing you to retain water. Drink lots of water and green tea if you like. The more you drink, the more the scale will drop. Don't let it get in your head.0

I just had my physical, im perfectly fine. I think its the scale. Because its telling everyone in my house the wrong weight lol0 -
I gained three pounds in one day with mine, and I had only eaten 1500 calories (excercised 500 off) from the day before...
So, you really need to drink more water, and AVOID SALT. That way, your body is less prone to water weight.
I can't see your food diary, so I don't know what you're eating. Remember, there's 3,500 in a pound, so to gain 13 pounds in a week, you'd have to eat 7,000 calories a day. Whoa.
Also, if you're working out a lot, a lot, some of what you gained could be muscle mass-- which is important for weight loss.0 -
I'm thinking there may be something wrong with your scales, e.g using it on a think carpet or battery needs changing, I'd weigh yourself on another set to make sure.0

I do not know if it is impossible, but I would wait until it's over and see where your weight goes. You may just hold an unconsiderable amount of water weight during ur TOM.
Also you may be consuming a little more calories right before, during , and after it, so it may be a factor.
If you see that it is only during that time, then it is probably not an issue. But speak to your doctor about it. They should have more insight.
Or like the previous post, check a different scale.
Good luck do not be discouraged.0 -
If your brother who is a trainer used your scales and was 10lb heavier as well as your self.... i think that answered your question - You need to go buy new scales!!0

Have your doctor check your thyroid. It is not something they check with a regular physical or blood work. I gained 15 pounds in 2 weeks right before, while working out and eating healthy. A week later I found out it was because I was severely hypothyroid, and needed to have my thyroid removed. If your thyroid is off significantly, it can cause large fluctuations in weight because your thyroid controls your metabolism. Ask your doctor to run a full thyroid panel on you. (Some other symptoms are fatigue, hair loss, and trouble sleeping)0

I'd say buy a new scale. Because that's just nuts.0

It might be the scale and possibly some of the bloating from TOM. What's your diet looked like? If you're following a lower carb diet and then maybe got out of the bandwagon a little it wouldn't be uncommon to carry some weight from a sudden influx of carbs. I've gained as much as 6lbs over a weekend just from going from low carb to high carb. That combined with the bloating could possibly see a double-digit gain.
Definitely double-check your scale though.0 -

I dont have any of those symptoms and I got checked for that already bc I have 2 aunts who have it.0 -
Could easily be your TOM. I think it's quite normal to gain 7-10lbs or even more than that. It should be the water retention and your weight should go back down a few days in or after TOM. Keep up with your healthy eating and make sure you drink 1.5-2 litres of water a day. A few days after your TOM you should be back to the weight you was before or even a little lighter.
If after your TOM if, the weight doesnt go back down, think about a visit to your doctor but more than likely its TOM!
Ok, just read some more........looks like its the scales lol!0 -
yes it is all TOM's fault, I usually gain about 7 to 10lbs when TOM is around. I hate him sooooo much. Then after a week of him gone the bloating goes down a bit....0
