I love that she can take these individuals and make them loose all of this weight by exercising and teaching them how to eat correctly...These people deserve mad props!! It is amazing what they have accomplished...
But what about the average everyday overweight mom...I think she should host a show about us. The people that are teetering on 200lbs and can't go anywhere...no matter how hard we try.

i agree. im not a mom but a normal person. overweight and want to lose weight. i finally got some motivation to go to gym but with a 4 month old and 7 yr old it is hard to go when i want to. i want to get to 200 lbs again and have ways to go. i know i will not do it in a month or 2 just take s time0

yeah i agree....do you do her dvd's? Ive been doing them for about 6 months ....my favorite one right now is No More Trouble Zones...0

i so agree, because i am one of those moms! i had my baby 3 yrs ago,and since then i have gained alot! when i was first pregnant i was 115 now i am 166! that is a big weight gain! I try things but they just dont work fast enough for me and i quit and then gain more weight. i just dont know what to eat,and it seems i never have time to work out. But i guess i just tend to make excuses.0

I totally agree! I hate to say it - but its easier for the morbidly obese to shock their bodies long enough to lose half their body weight in a year. I love 'biggest loser' and 'extreme makeover: weight loss edition' but as a early-mid 20s woman, I want a show that shows me I can lose 80 lbs in a year - because that's what I'm working to do! I had rough times and a bad injury when I was younger and gave up on myself - now I'm pushing the limits and working to change my body... but it'd be nice to get the same 'wow' and appreciation from society as those who go from 651 to 340. Losing 80lbs is a third of my weight! And there will be plateaus that I'm not sure how to get through - and it would be nice for the trainers to talk about that rather than just how you go from extremely obese to somewhat healthy but still overweight. Because when they reach that stage... they are either kicked off the show (BL) or the show is done (ExM).0

Agree! That would be me! I can't just take off 6 weeks and go to camp to get healty. How to you balance a healthy way to lose weight when you work all day, take care of the kids and husband when you get home and still try to get enough sleep. I haven't been able to do it yet. I think that this site is going to help once I can login an a daily basis...0

Ditto but realistically I can't go to the gym twice a day and spend 2 hours a pop there;). Unfortunately, I just want fast results and get discouraged b/c w/o that it's hard to keep my momentum.0

I did her 30 day shred video last week and was sore for 6 days lol. She is definitely intense. But then I go to the sucess forums and I see people 300 lbs doing the same video for 30 days in a row and losing 20 inches and 18 lbs and I'm like why am I not doing that?! I think it comes down to motivation, because I am physically capable and I know that. My mind gets in the way and then I put it off and it doesn't get done.0

I have been around 200 lbs for about 5 years now, and I'm not losing either, I eat right and exercise, some people think that I am pregnant but am not, just because on how my clothes fit. I walk my dog almost every day and I volunteer, so I don't eat too much. I just wish that my family would encourage me more.0

Hello,
The " can't go anywhere, no matter how hard we try" is a very self-defeating statement....
It's a "Can't do" attitude, and if it isn't eliminated, it will keep us right where we are until we die, fat and tired.
We need to "try" harder...which is difficult...But:
"Whether you think you can, or think you can't, you're right":happy:0 -

I just started the shred again...on day 4 now.
I have 2 kids, a boy 10 and a girl 17 months.
I do a 45 minute bootcamp 3 days a week at the gym
I do the shred everyday
I walk/run for 30 minutes in the evenings almost everyday
I swim for 30 minutes 6 days a week (sometimes more)
I go for random walks/bike rides a couple times a week too
Wouldn't you think i would loose a pound???? Nope...I have gained 3 this week!0 -
Very well put.0

Jillian is amazing!!! But, really ideal healthy weight loss should be slow and steady to make sure you keep it off. 1-2 lbs a week is the best according to most health websites, including MFP!
One of my concerns about losing weight has always been extra skin, I've talked with a lot of people that have said 1-2 lbs a week allows your skin to go back better, along with using a lot of lotion.
Love the 30 Day Shred, great workout! I've only done level one because that is what's on Exercise on Demand but I'm thinking about ordering her DVDs. I also subscribe to her daily newsletter!0 -
I'm a mom of three kids and while I was never at 200 pounds, I am 40 and let some weight creep on that I tried hard and couldn't get off for over a year. But once I joined mfp and really made the commitment, time and effort into eating correctly and working out, the pounds are dropping off, slowly but surely. I realized that too many calories had been going in during that time, because I figured I could eat more since I was working out. I know that the Biggest Loser show makes it seem like it happens overnight for those people, but the show is taped over a longer period than it appears. Change of lifestyle (ie, not a diet) will cause you to lose pounds. You just have to be very committed to sticking with it over the long term.0

I was one too! My son will be 2 in August and I was about 190 before having him. After having him and after all the swelling was gone, I was about 220. I finally decided it ws time for this to change. I started working out 5 days a week and eating better and I am now down to 186. I am losing about a lb and a half a week thanks to keeping track on MFP and being active. There are days when I work out almost and hour but most days I only do about 30 min. and that 30 min is Jillian Michaels 30 day shred. I have noticed a difference in just two week with that video. I also started doing C25K but that's about 25 min 3 days a week. I am a stay at home mom which helps cuz i work out while my little one is napping, but I started my weight loss journey by just going for a walk with my son in stroller for an hour or more a day. Even when I started the C25K program I did it pushing my son in the stroller. Start out slow and you can do it!!!!! Good Luck!0

Seems the only time i lose weight is when i am pregnant! (I am SO sick the entire time)
No more excuses!! We can do this!0 -
You're doing quite a bit to workout. Are you tracking your food as well and really making sure you're sticking to what you're putting down? I remember when I was doing WW if I guestimated too much I could easily eat 1 1/2 cups of something I was only counting as 1 cup.
When are you weighing yourself? Is it the same time, same clothes etc? I'm a bit neurotic about my WIs. Always first thing in the morning when I haven't had anything to eat or drink just before I pop in the shower. That way I know I'm not holding onto 24 oz of water or something. I've found too that if I had a ton of sodium the day before I can seriously be retaining water and that will screw up the scale.
I joined a 30DS challenge this month to get ready to go on vacation and to get myself back in the swing of things after being hurt. It's a good short workout. I can crank it out while DH is getting ready for work, then I get DD up and she and I get ready for work and school. I have friends that had awesome results with P90X but I don't have 90 minutes to devote to a TV workout right now.
As someone else said, it comes down to motivation. You've got to want it more than anything else and really believe that you can do it and you will do it. Hang in there and good luck!0 -

it comes down to motivation
This. If you want to do it, you will find the time no matter what. What do you do when you get home? Can your family survive if you reorganize things so that you have YOU time? Yes. They will. I am motivated to train for an Ironman. People ask how I do it - how I train for HOURS every day AFTER a full workday PLUS 2 hours of commuting. Answer? Its because Im motivated and willing to SACRIFICE.
I dont think its that much different for the avg 200lb person with a job. Its all about motivation and being willing to change your ways to get something different.
Also I feel the need to say, you're might be doing the same thing over again and yet expecting different results..0 -
I want to get her 30 DS!! I've heard a lot about it since I've been on mfp...and I just joined yesterday!!0
