There is a pole dancing class in my area and I am thinking about trying it. I am a little nervous, but I want to try something different and that is fun. If you have tried it and gotten results let me know. I go to the gym sometimes to go lift weights and work on toning, but not to be rude or silly, all of the exotic dancers I seen are all in tip top shape! Let me know what you think!
Thanks!!!!
Thanks!!!!

I do the Flirty Girl Fit videos. They have pole dancing , but I am too big to get on a pole at this point. I do their aerobics, sexy circuit, and Booty beat strip aerobics videos. I really want to do a pole dancing class....when I won't break the pole!0

It is an amazing arm work out. You will be sore when you get home so have lots of bananas and orange juice for the potassium! lol0

I haven't, but I took one class a couple of years ago for a Bachelorette Party and our teacher was FIT! It was so hard to get up and down that pole, I bet it's a good workout!0

We have something called Diva Fit in my area (pole dancing for excercise) and I've always wanted to try it. A few of my friends have done it and their arms look awesome. As soon as I can find a class that I can actually attend regularly I'm totally doing it. All the classes so far are on days that I've already got something going on...so as soon as my schedule changes I'm on it. Let me know how it goes if you do it!0

I wish this was offered somewhere near me....
hmm: Where can I get those videos?0 -
Whoo-Hoo!!! I sure do and I LOVE it! It is a GREAT workout. I actually have a pole I keep in my bedroom and I have one that travels with me. LOL
I take it to Mardi Gras every year and we have a blast on it. I've also had pole dancing parties at my house and all my friends love it.
The teacher I have is awesome and we developed a great friendship.
I say go for it. You will love it and you will be amazed at the results. ;-)
Let me know if you end up taking classes.0 -
I've tried it. It is super fun and you get a good work out, but because if it's expensive it is really easy to stop going. I've considered investing in my own pole. We'll see,0

Yep! I have a pole in my room....taught myself! I personally don't think it made that much of a difference to my body even though I was doing inverts and aerial moves...but it does a hell of a lot for your confidence! I also focused on my flexibility too when i was practising.
I don't do it anymore, I got bored of it BUT I did go to a pole party the other week and was surprised to find out that I can still do all the spins and intermediate inverts I learned

Buy either Lil Mynx or X Pole. They are the best ones out there. There are very sturdy. Have fun!!!!!
(My hubby LOVES it. That is how baby #5 came about. Drinking at the bar and then dancing on the pole. LOL)0 -

The dancing with the pole, pretty typical "dance" workout.
But The hanging upside down? Kinda like Yoga with pole......
Go try it girl, it's also a great excuse to buy some new high heels :flowerforyou:0 -

Hooray! I'm glad you decided to be brave and go for it! I go to S Factor and absolutely love it. It's really great strength/core work, but I also hit the gym and do plenty of other workouts so that I can handle everything that we do in class.
It is so much fun! I hope you love it!0 -
I used to take a class. I didn't notice any difference to my body and I didn't really like it because I didn't have the upper body strength to do a lot of the moves - made me really self conscious!0
-
I soooo want to try this!!!!0

I take Pole Dance Fit and I absolutely love it!! I definitely recommend it for anyone that wants to improve their core stability, muscular strength, flexibility, balance, coordination and confidence. Great workout and you feel sexy while doing it0

WARNING: IT'S ADDICTING!!! lol.I am another with a pole (actually two) at home and am self taught. I don't do it enough to look like a dancer, but it's o e hell of a workout...and you feel sexier too! = ) Im obsessed with it. It's all I can think of when I see any pole...street sign, tetherball, etc!! lol!!!
There is no weight limit for pole dancing...whoever said that they are too big...you can totally do it! Look on youtube ..it's for girls of all sizes! = )
And I haven't tried lil mynx, but I think the xpole and platinum stages are the best. I personally have the platinum stages portable one with a stage attched (great for parties). And the multipiece super pole which can spin or stay static. This one is my absolurte fave!!! Can hold lotssss and lotsss of crzay moves and weight and never budges! Best part...neither have to be drilled in//so no holes in the ceiling. Stay far far away from the peek a boo pr carmen electra or similar poles and stick with platinum/xpole/lil mynx. The others are just for looks and cannot hold the slightest bit of pressure.0 -
I would think it worked great. You dont see to many over weight strippers.0

I never thought I'd have the guts to try pole dancing, but I took several classes and loved them. I got friends to start coming to class with me, and I even bought a pole from Lil' Mynx. There can be some bruising afterwards, but my arms & thighs would be sore the next day, so I knew I was getting a real workout. Definitely a fun and sassy way to work on toning.0

I did one for my friends bach party that I planned, it was so much fun. I wish I could afford the time and money to do it regularly. It's hot, sweaty, and incredibly sexy.0

Im going to a pole dacing class at my gym tonight! And Im very excited and nervous at the same time haha Im worried my arms arent strong enough but I hope I'll be able to do some moves regardless0
-
Sounds like a blast! Think I'll have to find some videos for my cross-training workout days! lol0
-
I love it!! I have two poles in my garage studio and one in the exercise room in the house!! it's such a good workout!0

I started taking pole classes about a month and a half ago, but I only went twice a week and the studio didn't offer any other fitness/dance classes. They just recently changed their schedule to include a hip hop cardio class and zumba, though, so I've just decided to start going every day. L
Your enjoyment of pole fitness at a studio is going to depend a lot on if you like your instructors and feel comfortable with them. All of the instructors at my studio are supportive, friendly, and make class a BLAST!
When I first started, I couldn't lift myself up the pole, and I know I looked like a friggin idiot when I tried some of the tricks. But I was persistant! It took me a month to get myself able to climb the pole, and about 3 weeks to be able to do a plank more than once. You just have to keep trying - you will be sore, it's going to hurt a little at first (you WILL bruise a little and get pole burns), and you're going to feel silly, but if you keep at it you WILL be able to get better and better and stronger and stronger! Just know that everyone who isn't a beginner knows EXACTLY how you feel, and the other beginners aren't watching you anyways!
As for results, because I didn't commit to going consistently until recently, I haven't really lost much weight. But I have gotten a lot stronger, I have more energy, and, most importantly, it got me to start exercising!!0 -
I take a class once a week with Aradia Fitness, and I LOVE it! It's soooo much fun, and at the classes I go to we do a lot of floor work as well as pole work. You start off learning a couple moves a week, adding to it every week, so you build a good foundation, and then add to it.0

If anyone in Houston ever reads this, i can get you in for a half price intro at the studio I go to. Just send a friend request and/or a message! I'm always looking for more excuses to go dance, lol!0
