Making the switch from Weight Watchers?

I have been doing weight watchers for over a year and have lost 80lbs so far :) I have decided to cancel the meetings because I felt I was not getting that much from them any longer, not to mention it was $42.00 a month. I am now doing just on line which I am liking but I am feeling since they have changed the point program that I am more restricted.

I came across MFP and think maybe it is time that I understand calories instead of basing every thing on a point. I am really excited that there is SO much info here but also really anxious about changing it up. I have 40lbs to go to my goal and only 20lbs to hit 100lb loss!!!

I would love to hear from other MFP members and weight watcher members on what you think? Feel free to add me as a friend since I am currently friendless and all!!

I do WW online and like it but could never do in person meetings. I love this site. You will get a lot out of it

You'll love the database here - so much better than WW! A couple things that differ - be sure to log your fruits and veggies. I think WW is much more loosey goosey about accuracy. I'd suggest a food scale to get more accurate with your logging.

I did WW for a while but am coming back to MFP. I love that WW is more focused on healthy eating, but the database is so awful that I could only log about 1/2 of what I ate and never lost anything this most recent time - previously I had lost 40 lbs on WW - but that was before I found MFP and didn't know what I was missing.

The online community here is much more supportive than on WW. Beware, though, if you post woo nonsense, you'll get called out without mercy!

I tried WW twice, both the meetings and online, and just couldn't stick with it. Just when I started to get used to the point system, they'd change it up. I would only lose about 5 pounds before I'd get fed up and I felt like the meetings were a lot more about pushing their weight loss materials (trackers, books, WW food, etc) than being supportive. I'm sure some groups are great, but that wasn't my experience.

I really like MFP daily food and exercise diary and LOVE the community here. With the diary you are tracking more than just calories, but also other macros like protein, carbs, fat, fiber, sodium, etc. It's a lot more realistic than just counting points. I've lost about 25 pounds so far and no stopping me now!

I've done WW before and my mom is currently on WW (she lives with me). I don't like the new plan AT ALL. I actually help her track and I'm always surprised at the points things are now. I love MFP and feel I am much less restricted than she is and I never feel deprived. I'm also sending you a friend request

I agree with lalaleelou I find MFP is not as restrictive as WW. Of course any plan works if you stick to it but if WW is not working it is time to change it up. MFP is very supportive, that is why I am coming back. Been away for awhile, but time to get off these extra pounds. will send a friend request
