What about sex?

Is there a way to add sex into the exercise catagory? I think it's a legitimate cardiovascular workout...

It's really not that much of a calorie burn. Count it as part of your daily activity, like housecleaning.0

That's the saddest conjunction of thoughts I've heard on MFP...0 -

But she does it nakkie0 -
Every single thing you do including breath is considered a calorie burner. I am not sure why there is so much hatred for activities that are not deemed "proper" exercise. If you want to burn calories having sex, do so!0

Unless you're doing many, many minutes of flat out cardio burn, and even then I wouldnt bother logging it.. Then I would say NO0

There's no hatred for it. It's just incredibly difficult to get an accurate burn amount. If you are eating back those burned calories (which is the expectation with the MFP program parameters) and they are overestimated, you could be reducing (if not completely wiping out) your deficit. People get stalled in their weight loss and then can't figure out why. This is one of the contributing factors.
If anything, have the sex, enjoy, and consider the calorie burn as a bonus for a less active day.0 -
Sex is wonderful and has a lot of things going for it. But it's not really exercise that's going to either burn a lot of calories or get you into shape on its own; it's not a long, sustained cardio workout.
It would be kind of inappropriate to wear an HRM for any guess at how many calories you're burning, so, assuming you're here for weight maintenance (or loss!) just assume you're not burning calories. You're doing it to feel close and connected with your partner.0 -
LOL...hubby wishes sex were part of my or his every day burn...I wondered about it, so wore my heart monitor one night, out of curiosity.....600 more calories burned than on a nite without sex....negligible calories, I think not.....
That said, I wouldn't log it either, unless it was like an all day marathon or something...I'd rather be impressed by the scale going down, so I find it better to minimize my burns, and maximize the calories in...and just enjoy the sex when we can.....Win win.....lo0 -
On blogger said he used "golfing" for that time span.0

When I first started logging, I thought myself quite clever when I logged "walked dog" vigorously....NorthCascades wrote: »Sex is wonderful and has a lot of things going for it. I wish I had read this first! Hubby didn't think it was inappropriate, he thought it was wildly funny, and took it as a challenge, LUCKY ME!0 -
I wore my fitbit Charge HR during sex once for *kitten* and giggles. I didn't do much work that time, so it only came to 32 calories lol. I'll have to try again on a day with more effort. XD0
