pre-existing back injury

Does anyone out there have any pre-existing back issues that prevents them from doing certain exercises that they have learned to replace with others, etc? I’m looking for any advice or help - I broke my back (sacrum) in 2009 and still have residual pain, etc, so for instance, lifting over my head kills me and apparently jumping, too. Thank you!

I herniated 2 discs in my back about a year and a half ago. When I work out, it sometimes acts up, but only a little.

It doesn't really prevent me from doing any exercises, but I do have to watch out and make sure my back is always straight and not bent over.

    Hope that helps.

I have had lower back pain for 11 years got it from lifting heavy boxes, garbage bags and standing on a tiled floor without proper foot support. One of the many reasons i started gaining weight. I have been working my core and my pain is going away. Where is your pain and how bad is it?

two surgeries down. L5-S1 disk herniation. i have found that i have been able to resume all of my former activities now that I am a year out of my last surgery. the only difference is that i have to stretch SO much more. weekly yoga has become paramount to my routine and enables me to be able to enjoy the things I love to do. the thing i have found though is that my goals are different. It is not to run XXX far, or in XXX time. It is just to go out side and "JOG" and enjoy it. No time limit, no distance limit. and then to stretch stretch stretch.

not sure of your particular situation, but time and patience have paid off for me. and realistic goals about what i can do vs. what i want to do. and making sure my core is as tight as i can make it to support my back.

GOOD LUCK! and I SUPPORT YOU!

I broke my back in 2009 (sacrum) and my pain stems from around that area, in my hips and down my legs. I have been working on my core and yet i feel like the pain is the same if not worse. Doctors say back surgery but i would rather go the other route and work hard at strengthening my core and hopefully become MOSTLY pain-free. but certain exercises make the pain worse, during and after the work out (for instance lifting weights over my head and working out my arms or jumping). I also have a degenerated disc that is basically not even there, anymore, compounding the situation. On a scale from 1 to 10...it is about a 7 or 8 and i take pain VERY well. the average person would probably say about a 9.
