Exercise and shape change

Does exercise change your shape if you're in a deficit and still have plenty to lose? I'm currently 175 and would like to be 145 (have lost 25 so far) and am not exercising. I'd probably only start now if I thought it would affect my appearance right now. Any before/after exercise pictures from people who still have plenty to lose? Thanks!

So you don't want to exercise for the good of your health?0

Exercise always helps. It helped me lose massive inches when the scale wasn't moving as fast as I liked. My body definitely looks different now. I started at a little less than you but I'm right where you're at now with a similar goal in mind. I've lost 18 pounds and 17.5 inches since June. Exercise makes a big difference.0

Do you mean will your shape improve even if you are still overweight? If so, yes it certainly helps. Plus you'd be losing weight and exercising concurrently so it all would work together to improve your overall physique.0

Yes, I highly recommend it. I'm not sure how far into the healthy weight zone for your height you're aiming to get. My avi picture is me at the very top "healthy weight" for my height. I'm working toward 17 lbs under that. I don't have any better pics to share and I know it doesn't show much but it's something0 -
Wow, that's the top weight?! But you look really, really slim!0

Yep. I carry a lot of stomach fat w/stretched skin. Hence the loose shirt lol0 -
Exercise definitely helps. This picture is one year difference and I am still overweight in the second picture. I started at 244 and in the 2nd picture I was down to 180. I'm only 5'3".

When I was working real hard at losing weight I would run, lift and do planks. When my body fat % started getting low and after I lost 50 pounds it happened.....I found Abs that had been hiding.0

I am pretty small for my weight (currently 174-6lbs) and I absolutely credit this with exercise, both in my youth and then rediscovery when I started losing weight. If you're on the desktop I have progress pics on my profile for you to see. I'm still 20 odd pounds away from the top end of a healthy BMI!0

Please workout. It is a no-brainer. Remember weight loss takes diet and exercise to truly work.0

I think exercising or some form of it is good for everyone. I stay active, but don't exercise. I have lost almost 55 lbs without exercise. I do plan on walking/jogging once it gets nice out.0

In college I ate super low calories and rarely worked out. I was a 95lb size 0 but I still looked squishy and out of shape. A couple years ago I started lifting weights and became a 110 lb size 0 and looked SO much better. More muscle definition and much leaner even though I weighed more. So yes, exercising, especially strength training, will help give you a 'fit' look even if the scale is slow to budge. (FWIW I am no longer a size 0 and probably healthier that way. )0
