    Yes you can: I never upgraded...I just use the app on my phone. :)

    Yes you can use the Free Version of My Fitness Pal to Scan your food! no other app is needed for scanning your food with MFP

    The first time I scanned a food package, my phone asked if MFP had permission to access the camera. Once I clicked 'yes', it worked. No extra apps required.

    The barcode icon on the Add Food to Diary page looks a lot like this. When you see this icon, tap the icon, and point the phone in the general direction of the barcode on the food packaging.
