Why can't I enter avocado?

Barcode on this fruit is too small to read on barcode reader, if you enter "avocado", app doesn't recognize it. If you use quick add, it only accepted calories. Any helpful thing more..... is locked and only available to "premium" customers.

I logged avocado this morning. The entry I used was "USDA - Avocado, Raw"

Those little fruit stickers they put on at the store don't scan like UPC codes do on a packaged product, like a carton of milk or a box of cereal. You need to manually search for "avocado" as suggested above. Once you put it in you'll be able to add it quickly next time.

Good luck! Avocadoes are THE BEST! Mmmm...

I'm guessing you had some technical difficulties, try it again.

I named this one Bill. No just kidding. But really, I did enter the supplier name from the fruit sticker with the bar code, and that didn't help....

Try typing in avocado instead of using the barcode

Mine either. I've never bought fruit or veggies that had a bar code on them..

OP, I enter "Avocado usda" and get loads and loads of entries pop up.

My wife just turned me on to fresh guacamole dip and baked Tostito scoops. OMG! Who knew? What a WOW of a snack.

I am gonna have to learn how to make this stuff myself.

I've never bought fruit or veg with an actual bar code - but I think what OP is trying to do is scan from those little stickers that are often on apples, oranges etc - and I guess on avocados, although I don't buy them myself.

I agree with everyone though that OP should just search for the official avocado entry in the data base and use that. Different companies' avocados are really not going to vary much - just search for the general avocado entry.

really? So the little PLU sticker with the number like 4535 doesn't have a barcode on it?

    A barcode...yes. A teenie one.
Not the same as a scannable barcode for MFP I dont think.

When you use a self-checker at the grocery those don't work. You have to put in the PLU number. I expect MFP would be the same -- not the PLU number bit, but them not working.

I scan the barcodes on the fruits all the time when I am at the register. They do work.

They don't at my supermarket self serve checkouts either. Fresh produce has to be manually selected on the screen and weighed.
