So, I got on the New Years bandwagon and joined MFP, got a FitBit for Christmas and was totally motivated and doing really well. Even got back on track after a weeks' vacation away. Then, life happens and had a couple bad weeks. Totally got out of my routine and it's now been weeks since even logging in. I finally put my FitBit back on and will start logging in MFP again today. It was so hard to lose the first 10lbs and in just a matter of weeks I've put it back on. So, have 45lbs still to go. I keep falling off track around a particular weight too, so if I can get past the next 15lbs, it will be the lowest I've been in years. What are your best tips for battling the mind-over-matter issue of eating well? I find the biggest problem is when I'm bored or don't feel like doing my daily chores/tasks.

Now you know that life will happen. Make a plan that you can stick to through "thick and thin", not just when you are "motivated". The change of habits is usually hardest, and then it's the sticking to the new habits that will be the challenge, unless you find them more appealing in every way (or in most ways) than the old habits. Don't go all-out. Focus on eating well, food you like but is also healthy. Then add exercise if you want to.

    Google "the pleasure trap".

If you need a little "push", check out the Pact app. It is what economists call a commitment device. If you don't log for the number of days on a week that you commit to, you have to pay. If you do log, you and everyone else who made your commitment get paid by the folks who didn't. I've paid a few weeks, but on the whole. I'm up fifty dollars in six months.
