I'm a fan of the 80/10/10 split between macros...

BUT..I mix it in with the "Starch Solution" diet (love cooked potatoes and pasta you can pry them out of my cold dead hands), rather than the full raw thing that's not for me.

I don't eat just 80% raw food, or reduce my grains. I'm probably only about 40% raw foods and 40% cooked.

I've lost weight (about 30lbs) and kept it off. I'm 5ft5 and 119lbs. Saved money on almost no animal products, which I didn't set out to do, I've just gradually gotten more and more plant based as I've experimented more in the kitchen for meals.

I found it changed my digestion somewhat...when I do, on rare occasions, eat anything fried...I get the most excruciating stomach pains and just feel....not good. I had some fried fish last week and I was in agony for about 5 hours afterwards.

I also got blood work done and general health check up very recently after eating this way for around 18 months...all came back perfectly, protein/fats etc all exactly where they should be, my body fat is down to 19% while I maintain muscle.

But again, not everything works for everyone. Tweak it a bit. You don't need to follow it verbatim for weight loss (that's just CICO), but honestly I feel just great with it in general.

Any diet you choose will work.
It's all about staying in your calories. That simple.
    * A sedentary woman should get at least 46 grams of protein per day. And the brain needs fat to function (choose foods high in omega 3 fats).

Inadequate protein and fat. Short answer, it sucks.

I switched to a plant-based vegan diet back in January and when you do, you will naturally end up eating higher carb and lower fat/protein. I came from a low carb/high protein diet and I have had success losing weight on both. I'm down about 60 pounds now with 50 left to go.

I FEEL a lot better on a starch-based diet and my numbers (cholesterol, blood pressure, blood sugar) have all dropped dramatically. I started with 80-10-10 but I lift heavy and want to make sure to maintain adequate muscle, so now my macros are closer to 70% carbs, 20% protein, 10% fat.

I think you can lose weight on any diet as long as you're eating at a calorie deficit. What's important is finding something you can stick with for the long haul, something that makes you FEEL good, and something which works for your lifestyle. If you read The China Study, you will get a lot of great information about 80-10-10 and you can adapt it to best suit you :)

Yep, pretty deficient in protein and fat. Just looks unbalanced to me.

High Carb = High Sugar = No fat Loss. Set macros 15c/20p/65f. All better now! :)
