Anyone add calories burned from total steps everyday

So I just started tracking number of steps taken everyday. But confused on whether I should add them separately as an exercise. Doesn't MFP already have that added in daily goal? I have set myself as sedentary.
Should I start adding steps if I go above 10k per day.

What are you using to track steps? The device may sync with MFP. Sedentary would be less than 5,000 steps per day so if your device doesn't sync with MFP you can change your setting.0

I'm using an app called Pacer. It does sync with MFP but adds it as exercise even I take only 1k steps as part of normal steps a day0

So if it syncs then u don't need to add it again0

My Fitbit synching also starts adding calories from walking as soon as I'm past say 2,000 steps - but first in very small increments of about 10 calories here and there, so that's perfectly plausible to me. Compared to not moving at all, did I use another 50 calories if I walked about 2,000 steps? Of course, it makes perfect sense.
I walked 16,000 steps yesterday, and while the estimate of about 800 extra calories could be a bit inflated, I don't think it's inflated by much (I've been eating most of my exercise calories back and losing according to predictions).0 -
I have my fitbit synced with mfp and let it do it's thing. Set and forget.0

I let Pacer sync and eat back about 50% of the calories it adds most days. I have MFP set to lightly active. I lose on track at 2ppw.0

I eat my walking calories. I have found the Fitbit calories pretty accurate overall. I watched it carefully at first & ended up making myself shorter than I really am on my stats to get it right where it needed to be.0

Yep, I reduced my height and stride length just in case it was over estimating.0 -
So, back to the original question because my Misfit does not synch with MFP (at least that I've figured out). I do not add back in for my steps taken but I also don't hit 10K steps everyday. I only add exercise steps if I actually go for a walk. I would rather not add them in and have that "buffer." So for those that don't sync with MFP, do you add your steps into MFP as "exercise?"0

I would use my tracker to give me avg daily steps (probably using weekly figures) without purposeful exercise i.e. your actual walk and then make sure MFP is set up to the correct activity level based on that. So typically I do around 7,000 steps on a normal day so I am lightly active. The problem is if its not consistent week to week. I find my weekdays are pretty consistent but weekends can vary greater so days I might do 2000 steps others I can easily do 15,000.0 -
I went online and took off the calories added for steps per day. I have an office job so I'm pretty sedentary (other than my exercise hour which I do log but not as many cals as MFP gives) and didn't want to have extra calories here and there messing with my deficit.0

That's exactly my problem. My steps vary a lot since my 'walking/ being active' habit is not set and I don't want to add extra calories which MFP has already accounted.
I don't have a fitbit, so I guess I have to observe for a week or so and then adjust accordingly.0 -
In settings there is an option to allow negative adjustment...meaning if you do less steps in a day instead of extra calories you get a minus It's an option with FitBit at least since it estimates your TDEE based on your activity so far in the day and compares it to your TDEE set in MFP - that is why value changes during the day. So for instance if you decide to have a stay in bed and watch tv shows lazy sunday - it would give you a minus adjustment probably.0

Same here. MFP steps said I was burning a lot of calories by walking to work or to the train station, and so I could eat a lot of calories back, but it wasn't helping me lose weight. I was definitely going way over. Now I have turned it off, it feels much more accurate logging food and exercise myself.0
