Are the Kayla Itsines exercises effective?

Who has done this program that could tell me about it? Did it tone you up? Were the exercises horrifically difficult?

Also, how long are the daily workouts and how many days a week? I have 30 minutes a day to exercise. That is about the max I can carve out of my free time and still give other things the attention they need.

I'm curious to know.

I'm on week 3 of the regular workouts. According to the scale I haven't lkst anything. But my pants are getting loose enough to sag. And I can FEEL my arms getting stronger. I feel like I'm genuinely noticing and feeling results. But I work out as hard as I can and haven't missed a day.

I think they're tough workouts. If they're not difficult enough, you could always speed up the reps and add more weight. The workouts are two circuits, with 4 exercises per circuit.

You repeat the circuit as many times as you can for 7 minutes, rest for 30 seconds, then do the next circuit and repeat. So, 4 circuits total.

I usually make it through leg circuits 1.5 times in 7 minutes, but my fitter sister can make it through more than twice. So she's moving faster, but we are both dying.

On off days you do LISS (low intensity steady state cardio), like a power walk for 35-45 minutes.

I like them because I like having a program outlined for me. I tend to go easy on myself if I try to do it myself.

@justrobbin on Instagram has some good workouts too.

Oh, some of the exercises don't have suggested modifications, and I'm a wimp, so I google ideas and just do my best. I'll do some reps full out if I can, modify the rest, and I'm already finding I can do more without modifying than I could 3 weeks ago.

I think it's easy enough to be realistic. It doesn't require much equipment. I've been using chairs and stairs instead of benches. But I had to use my kids play-chairs for some exercises because I literally could not do them on a regular height chair/bench.

Let me know if you want more info! Happy to help.

Awesome! Yes, I was wondering about the equipment. I have absolutely no intention of going to the gym to do them...what did you need to have at home to do the exercises??
