I have just purchased a New Balance N4 HRM and I don't understand what the Levels L1-L3 are for. I am brand new to HRM's in general. I had assumed that you set one single Low and High range. How do I properly set the N4? I am a little confused about the levels. If it helps, I am 24 yrs old, and weigh 203. Thanks so much for any explanations!! :)

I have the same HRM and I didn't quite know where to set them either… I just used what I felt was a good range for each level but the reality is that I don't know what it measures except to sound a really quiet beep if your heart rate is too high - but honestly, I don't even hear the beep over the music at my gym.

All in all, I'm really happy with the N4 and it's been great giving me an accurate count of calories burned.

So do you just leave at the same level all the time or do you change it ?
