People - mg is not g

Why why why is my "My Foods" list filling up with foods from MFP that I have to modify to set the sodium content right? Has something changed in MFP before I started or do people just have problems reading labels and understanding that grams and milligrams are not the same thing?

0.2mg of sodium is negligable. 200mg of sodium is almost 1/10th of my daily allowance and we should all know that exceeding our sodium allowance may lead to water retention and a temporary gain on the scales so it is really important that we get this right.

Most packages I look at here in the UK state sodium content in grams, but MFP wants it in milligrams. Not a problem, I just multiply the packaging value by 1000 when I add foods to the database but I wish everyone would do the same.

In the US, sodium is listed as mg on the label. Weird.

Soooooo anying isn't it! Pretty much every entry I found (mostly UK/Irish foods) need editing.
I guess the problem is that most people weren't brought up with the metric system, so they wouldn't have a clue that there's a difference. And of course the packaging here is in grammes, rather than miligrammes.
