Hello all,

I have recently re joined MFP and have started to do regular cardio exercises. I was would like to incorporate weight lifting as I have heard this is a good way to lose weight and tone up.

Does anyone know of any websites or apps what I can use for a routine. I have no idea how reps etc work and what kind of weights to use and why. I guess I'm asking for a weight lifting exercise routine. I have tried to google online but seem to find it difficult to understand the different combination of weight exercises.

If anyone could help me with this it would be great. Also please feel free to add me, I am active on MFP and would love daily input/ideas.

Also please let me know what time of succes you have had with weight training.

Thank you all

Pru

Stronglifts 5x5 is a solid, simple beginning lifting program. And there is an app for it, too. The site has videos showing the lifts. I started with SL and a little over a year later I've moved on to a split routine. Lifting has changed my physique in ways I couldn't imagine. I went from 140-116, 47 yrs old and 5'2". 30% body fat to 19-20% now.

Any progressive overload compound lifts program is the way to go. Apart from SL, you could even take a look at New Rules of Lifting.

Look up Jamie Eason on Bodybuilding.com. She has some really good routines.

I like to use the Fitness Buddy app to track my lifting progression and routines.
