Do I need to worry about protein?

I can maintain the correct calories and fat each day but I go over on protein almost every day. Is this really something I need to worry about?

    Protein can't be converted to fat, so if you go over, it's no problem. (As long as you don't have kidney or liver problems)

    What are you eating to go over? Not saying it's bad, I just keep gettring under on mine. I need more choices.

    Nope. It will be fine. MFP sets the protein requirement quite low.

    Are you under in Carbs? If you are you can lower your carbs and it will raise your protein numbers. Try raising is 10% and see if it helps. Go to Goals. Change Goals. Customize. Change percentage. Click save changes or it will not change.
  • Eating high protein foods will actually aid your diet so it's not a problem but don't overdo it! Make sure it doesn't go too much over because it can put your body under stress. But generally it's fine.

    Yes, excess protein CAN be converted into fat. Learn your facts. But, as long as you're in the calorie range, you are fine.

    What do you think happens to the extra protein, you pee it out? -_-

    Any of the macronutrients, fat, carbs, and protein can be converted into storage (fat) in excess.


    I;m sick of the misinformed on this website spreading wrong information.


    What happens to the protein:

    It is broken down into building blocks known as peptides.

    Then, it is further broken down and it becomes amino acids.

    The amino acids are absorbed through the small intestine's lining and enter the blood stream.

    From here, some of the amino acids build the body's protein stores.

    Excess amino acids are converted to fats and sugars and follow the paths described above.

    My nutritionist told me to eat the same amount of protein that I want to weigh.....for example...if I want to weigh 140 lbs, I should eat 140 grams of protein in a day!!!

    Don't worry about going over on protein!!

    Thanks for asking that question...it's been my case also, it isn't much it's like -4 or -6

    I've always been told that protein, fiber and good carbs is the way to go, so I was pretty sure it was ok

    but got a little worried because it was like in the red and just didn't look right, so i wondered if I was doing something wrong.

    You have a very smart nutritionist! This is the same protein amount I set.

    High protein is only a concern for those with liver or kidney disease.
