My elliptical say I've burned 400 or so calories but when I put the time in the app it says only 300. What one is correct?

    Go with 300.

If you're trying to lose weight, it's best to go with a lower exercise number ... many calculators overestimate calories burned.

yeah go with the lower number, better to err on the side of caution for calorie burns can be over estimated.

I put in whatever the machine says....but then I never eat back my exercise calories so it's really just to help me keep track of how much exercise I've been doing.
