Knee issues need advice

Options
So two years ago September I fell from the entire flight of 8 stairs and landed directly on my knees. I was bruised and sore for a while and since my knees have never been the same (no I did not go see a specialist). Well after doing the 30DS and NMTZ yesterday I work and my knees sound like an old rickety wooden door in a hunted movie, its creepy.

I’m thinking that I can’t do the 30DS and NMTZ's together. I am just going to do the 30DS and the Elliptical (because when I did those together I was not having this knee sound issue) and then the 30DS and Kickboxing... NMTZ has to wait as I don’t want my knees to blow out on me :( I’m bummed because I really wanted to do them together.

Anyone else have knee problems? Any suggestions for me?

Thanks,
Michelle

You need to go see an orthopedist and get an MRI on your knee. Damaging it further with workouts like 30DS that are squat and lunge heavy without knowing what the issue is may end up really biting you in the butt later.

I have a lot of cartiledge damage in both my knees from running many years ago. I can do squats, but can't do them really low like some people can, and I can't run at all.

I stretched some ligaments in my knee a few years ago in a soccer game and sometimes it will still feel weak and hurt in that area if I run to hard. When that happens I will put on my knee brace (just a neoprene one) and run with it or switch up my cardio and do the stairstepper or just walk instead. I know if this will help you but I find that the support from the brace helps.

My knee doctor told me that if the knees are not painful, just ignore the noise and run, jump, play.

Are you feeling pain at all? When I first started TurboFire my left knee was giving me a lot of pain. I bought a brace to wear from the grocery store. I wore it during my workouts and any time it felt sore. I also iced every night (15 minutes ice, a few minutes off, then 15 minutes ice again). After a week or two of doing that I never felt pain again. So I can workout doing the same thing now with no brace and no ice.

No my knees are not sore, its really the sound that is making me worried...

I was thinking about getting those neoprene knee braces.. I just wanted to get as much advice from here as I can :) The last thing I can pay for right now is a MRI or PT... they are just too expensive... but I dont want to cause a bunch of damage either and I need to keep working out.

Have a orthopedic look at it... I'm a martial artist..and my knees starting hurting.. I had some kind of discomfort before.. and some pain..but took aleve for temporary relief and ignored the discomfort for years. I finally went to the orthopedic..to find out .. I need total knee replacement on both knees. It was a nightmare when I first heard those words come out of the doctors mouth. But, Im having surgery in a few months.. not giving up my martial arts either. on a brighter side.. im still young enough to get it done and to young enough to workout hard on pre and post surgery,... to get back to a normal lie.

Good luck.. but make sure you go to the doctor.

By the way..that sound.. could be arthritis... this is another reason you need to go check it out asap.

You should get it checked out before continuing on any kind of exercise plan.

I ruptured my patellar tendon and broke my kneecap 2 years ago. After surgery and physical therapy I am able to road bike aggressively, jog cautiously and and elliptical my heart out. I have no restrictions when cross country skiing but have been barred from downhill skiing. There are a lot of specific knee bending exercises, squats, going up and down stairs, etc. that cause me a lot of problems. Some that I should do to get stronger and some that I shouldn't to avoid further damage.

You should be seen by a doctor so you can proceed safely!

The problem I have is I want to do TurboFire everyday and after day 4 my knees get sore. :-( I have an elliptical and treadmill....but as Chalene says in TF60....you can't get this kind of workout on a piece of machinery!!!! :-) Using a pain reliever and biofreeze is what helps me!

Try water aeorobics with the noodles. Put the noodles between your curvature of your foot and lift your leg out front for 4 sec then down for 4 sec repeat this 8 times then change legs. this strenghten the ligaments in your knee joints. you can do as many as you like. i take water aerobics daily and i have had severe disc ruptured and bulged since 1995. The water aeorbics have helped. Also after 45 minute workout i get a little relaxation at the hot tub.
