Short women: do we have a harder time losing weight?

I am quite short (5 feet) and at my heaviest, I was 170 lbs. I am now down to 119 and lthough it's a healthy weight, I still have a fair amount of belly and thigh fat and I'm trying to get rid of it ASAP. I wanna be DONE with weight loss!

I would really like to get down to 105 (still a healthy weight for my size!) and it seems to be more difficult to lose it since I am already at the lowest calorie intake level (1200). I run 4 days a week (avg 20 miles a week), do other cardio 2 days, and do nothing on Mondays! (maybe a short walk-about 2 miles) and I try to eat my exercise calories, but I'm scared I'm just eating too much for my size!

I joined MFP 5 days ago and I'm not sure what to expect. It seems to be working for my husband, but that's him!

Any input?

Thanks!

The end of the journey is always the hardest. Whether you've never had a weight problem & just want to lost 10lbs, or if you've already lost 50lbs and want to lose the last 10 you are going to have to fight tooth & nail to get rid of them. Most women are like this anyway.

    Good Luck!!!

I am in the same boat, I just started MFP a few days ago, and I have already lost 2 pounds. It's pretty strict, so you have to follow your recommended calories and drink lots of water (which is really all I have changed).

I am 5'0" and want to get down to 105. Something that helps many people on this site, I notice is mini-goals. My mini goal is 110.

Something else I noticed (because I am a software developer and sit in a chair all day), it helps to walk around even for a few minutes. Put the remotes by the TV, put your alarm clock across the room, etc. Just to get up and do things. Keep moving. When there are commercials, I do small exercises like dumbells or situps, etc.

Once you get in the habit, you really don't have to think about it anymore. :) I hope this helps.

I am also 5'0" but I'm at 142 currently. A couple of things for you to consider...you may not be eating enough. I know at our height we can safely do 1200, but since you are at a very healthy weight, you are going to have to accept much slower losses to get down to 105. Chances are good that you would do better if you actually ate more. Tell MFP you want to lose 1/2 lb a week, no more. Make sure you eat back your exercise calories (VERY important at this stage in your loss). Resist the urge to keep reducing your calories more and more, it simply won't work for you at 119. I know it's hard to understand that eating more will help but give it a try. If you've been "starving" yourself for too long you might gain a bit at first. If you do gain, it is a clear sign that you have not been eating nearly enough for awhile now. Once your body stabilizes (could take several weeks), you will start losing again if you do it at the right pace. Good luck!
