I started to go the low carb route 11 weeks ago. I have no been hungry and have not spent a lot of money. My goal is to lose at least another 90 by end of December. I used MFP to track my eating. For those of you who are struggling it low carb might be a way to get going. I don't think there is any magic but good fats and protein keep me satisfied longer so I am not as hungry and so dont want to eat all the time. They say with low carb dont worry about calories, but I am keeping track. I am eating 1200 to 1500 cals a day.

This is great news. I have lowered my carbs also. Everyone loses weight differently, and this is what works for me. What net carb is your limit?0

1200 calories is dangerously low for a MAN.
Of course you HAVE to keep track of calories with low carb. Anyone who says otherwise is wrong. Calorie deficit (or massive calorie deficit in your case) is the thing responsible for weight loss. Lowered carbs is just the vehicle you chose to reach a deficit.
My deficit is moderate because I am trying to limit lean muscle mass loss. When you have a long ways to go this isn't as much a concern. But you do need to get all your nutrients in. Fat stores can only do so much. I eat ALL foods, because when I get to goal, I will eat ALL foods too. I feel I need to manage everything.....not just carbs.0 -

I try to stay under 20 grams of carbs, but usually am more than that. Usually 20 to 40. I have not eaten potatoes in 11 weeks, I have had about 10 slices of bread (usually toast at breakfast if I go out to breakfast), no rice and perhaps 1/4 cup of pasta. I am eating more vegetables, more good fats (coconut milk, olive oil, heavy cream, butter), eggs, bacon, fish and other meats

Yes i am careful to keep track of cals and carbs. I started out not doing that and then stopped losing weight. I found that i was only eating 800 to 1000 cals. I went back up to 1200 to 1500 and started losing again. I am usually 1300 to 1500. I know that low carbs are not magic. For me eating the good fats and proteins keeps me satisfied and so I eat less. I started at 355 and at 315 now.2 -
Is that in addition to working out?0

You are awesome! Everyone is different so if this is working for you, stick with it. I agree a higher protein diet helps me stay fuller longer.1

I've lost 43 lbs in just under 3 months eating lots of healthy carbs (macros average 40 carbs, 30 fat and 30 protein) and 1,850 calories a day and some exercise every day which makes me feel great mentally and physically. Different strokes for different folks.1
