Just wondering how many of you have tried detox tea/water and if they really work? I've heard of a few but am worried I will be in the toilet all day at work. Any suggestions?

water. and let your organs do the rest0

No, they are a scam and/or a laxative. Don't be gullible.0
-
None. Unless you like wasting money.0

They don't work. The only legitimate detoxing is done in the care of medical staff. Most OTC detoxes and cleanses have laxatives. Save your money.0

Any suggestions? Save your money, enter accurate stats and reasonable goals into MFP, get an appropriate calorie goal, eat a variety of nutrient dense foods leaving room for treats in moderation, log everything you eat, ideally using a food scale, exercise if you enjoy it, eat back a portion of those calories, be patient.

You're liver is the only detox you ever need. Honestly. Save your cash. Most of the time you're ditching water weight and any food in your bowels. It's probably pretty bad for you and your wallet. I saw this meme a few weeks ago and it applies. Best wishes!

Don't. You don't need to be fired because you spent the entire day in the restroom. It would be all for nothing anyway. They don't do anything to help you lose weight, except the temporary weight loss from spending the day on the toilet.0

Well, you're right about being on the toilet all day, so I'll give you points for that.0

One of my posts got changed to "no kitten, Sherlock". Which doesn't really make much sense, but it made me laugh.0 -

I know a guy who makes one with wild mushrooms. It really got me in touch with my inner spirituality and detoxed me over the course of a couple of days.0

I can't wait for some woo peddler to come up with "liver tea."0

Most of these "detox" teas are just a laxative tea and/or a diuretic. They are just making you pee/poop which can give the illusion of losing weight because the scale will go down as you eliminate waste. As soon as you eat, the weight will come right back. Do your self a favor and just stay away from them. You're liver is the only detox you ever need. Honestly. Save your cash. Most of the time you're ditching water weight and any food in your bowels. So glad I asked! LOL I don't buy into the detox your body stuff, but a lady at work was detoxing and kept saying how great she felt and she wasn't in the bathroom. I was like nah, I'm good. If I need to detox, I'll stay away from what I need to detox myself. Then I started to wonder, if they really work. Growing up in a Mexican household, we had teas for everything from cramps/bloating to sore throats to sleep aids to it's cold, add some alcohol to the tea and go to sleep. LOL I think I'll stick to my long island teas on the sweet side.
Thanks for the reminder everyone - Blessings to all!0 -

OP, save your money, drink water.0 -
if you feel like spending too much money on tea, just buy a bunch of really nice teas!
We have a tea shop nearby, and there is also a mall tea shop called Teavana.
Local tea shops and the mall one both have free samples.
Go and try a bunch of different teas and buy what you like.
Increasing water is good for you, and tea is delicious, so just treat yourself to a bunch of nice teas!
You can even write 'detox' on the tea bag with a sharpie.
Voila!
