Training Parkour helped me lose 75 Lbs and counting (pics)

Hello! My name is Poe and I figured I would share a short success story. I started training parkour about 1.5 years ago and it has done amazing things for me.

My close friends helped me with nutrition and quitting all my vices. Quit smoking after 20 years of it. Quit drinking after just as many years. The hardest thing of all for me to quit was refined sugar. How I miss you smacky cakes! I am very excited to see my progress in both body transformation and my training.

Congratulations Poe! I'm thinking about starting parkour this year, but am a bit nervous. Curious to hear more about your experience.

Thank you for your support everyone! I was very lucky when I first started on my health journey to have a couple of close friends who were a source of knowledge and inspiration. When I first started training for Parkour I went about it all the wrong way and kinda just "jumped into it". I was pretty stubborn about it and managed to make it work for me before I learned about progression lol.

I recommend a similar process for everyone however in a more safe way. Parkour is an amazing safe and fun sport if it is done right. People always see the many athletes soaring over huge buildings and think that is a huge risk. They don't see the sheer amount of conditioning and practice it took to get to that point. To let you know where I started, I just went outside and started stepping onto and off of a simple curb. Progression, Progression, Progression, I repeat safe Progression (one of the core fundamentals of Parkour).

If you would like to start Parkour I HIGHLY recommend finding a local group (free usually) or gym (first time free usually) and have them show you the ropes. Very simple things indeed, I promise 99% of people you will meet are incredibly excited to meet and help new people! If you don't have access to that, good old you tube is an amazing source of knowledge for beginners. Make sure to focus on Warming up/stretching, simple conditioning excercises, basic parkour movements (jump, landing, roll, simple vaults, QM), and cooling down/stretching. Grab some friends who are curious as well.

You will have some amazing fun while not even realizing you are getting in shape. Try it the next time you are outside and play! See a curb, try to balance on it. Go out of your way to step over a strange tree root. Step from one parking divider to the next. Spin and circles and giggle. Thats your homework
