Ideal Protein

I'm on Ideal Protein diet. Have lost 15lbs/3wks. Will be on unexpected vacation in 2 weeks, where I know I'll want to relax and have a few cocktails each day. Realize I'll go out of ketosis. Plan to eat fish and veggies to have some damage control, but may have a treat here and there also (eg fruit, ice cream). Wondering if I should go off IP products and supplements for week if I'm not following program? Also wondering about possible side effects/dangers of drinking? Any insight from IP dieters would be appreciated.

You may want to look into these issues separately.
    1) There is no advantages in following a specific diet unless your doctor specifically instructed you to do so, and in that case, discuss your concerns with your dr. Products and supplements for weight loss are scams, also when evading the purpose of weight loss and going on to claim that they are for "health" or similar. A good diet of ordinary food is enough to acheive weight loss and improve your health. You can lose weight, safely and effectively, just by using the food diary her on MFP. (How did you end up here?)
    2) Unless you are morbidly obese, 15 pounds loss in 3 weeks is either a) mostly water weight and not fat, b) not healthy, c) caused by unpleasant interventions, d) completely unnecessary.
    3) Don't drink too much. If you can't tolerate alcohol, don't drink at all.
    4) Do eat fruit and ice cream on vacation. Eating is life, not a life sentence.

I realize your vacation has probably already come and gone, and hopefully you found the right answer of time.

Here is the official word on alcohol and IP: Why can't I have alcohol when I'm in ketosis?

Alcohol is not permitted while on Phase 1 and must be avoided while you're in ketosis. During ketosis, your liver is busy converting the fatty acids being released from your fat cells into ketones that can be burned by your body for energy. It's also busy converting protein (and sometimes fats) into glucose for those organs that have to have glucose to operate. As well as busy doing all of the other functions that it is responsible for. Alcohol is a toxic substance. Your liver immediately focuses on removing it from your body and puts other things on hold - such as creating the glucose your brain and other organs need. Hypoglycemia can result and if it happens while you're driving, it could be especially dangerous.

In a word, drinking while on Ideal Protein is strictly forbidden and can be dangerous for you.
