Question about starting an overall diet/healthy eating?

I am trying to start eating healthy as I am over 400 pounds and on blood pressure meds.

I try to think of what to eat daily and am driving myself nuts. I say OK for breakfast I should have fiber, protein, maybe veggies, fruit, carbs and I say OK all bran buds milk fruit but then I say to myself no veggies and low protein. So I end up having nothing or a frozen pizza pocket.

Same thing for lunch I say OK protein and veggies so I say big salad n chicken breast but I hate eating salads so I usually eat bad.

Same for supper.

I have been looking at members posts for weeks now and I notice most of you don't do this, I see most don't have veggies at breakfast time and I am sure you are OK with that I also notice that the majority of members do not have salads.

I do not know why I can not think like this and just say as long as it's healthy and that should be good enough for now.

I know the most important thing is getting weight off and not making sure I eat 5 cups of veggies 2 cups fruit and most veggies raw.

Also for some reason I don't think I should have egg for breakfast and meat for lunch and supper.

Can any members give me some advice please and thanks on how to just eat right worry about more veggies and that after I lose lots of weight.

Thanks for any and all advice.

It can be daunting at the beginning, but don't over think it. To lose weight, you need to eat less, move more, and keep hydrated. Set realistic goals and just do it. You've made the first step so there shouldn't be anything to stop you.

It sounds like you're overthinking this and trying to change all the things. Instead of trying to make all the meals perfect and then getting overwhelmed and giving up on life, try to change a little bit at a time.

If you hate salads, don't eat them. There's no law that says healthy diets must have salads in them. What do you like? Do you like chicken and other vegetables? Do you like rice? Would it be difficult to change to brown rice?

Figure out what it is you're willing to do and go from there.

You might talk to a dietician or a professional in the field.

TBH, just eat your normal foods and get in the habit of logging them. Invest in a food scale, weigh your food. Keep logging, everyday, no matter what. Try to hit your calorie goal. If you go over, don't beat yourself up. If it helps, pre-log your day and stick to it.

    Baby steps.

One could say that you are letting perfect be the enemy of good, and overthinking this, and being confused by all the information out there, etc etc, but you have been here since 2011. It looks to me you are just looking for excuses to not changing anything.

Just eat less. Log what you want to eat. Make adjustments as you go. Instead of taking things OUT of your diet, think of nutritious foods you can add.
