Hi everyone! I am new to this community! I am restarting my journey again. Getting back to being healthy and active and finally staying on track and making it a lifestyle. I used to do Muay Thai and fought, those days are over and now just learning how to weight train and get my body right and eating healthy. Any good advice/suggestions and motivation would be greatly appreciated! I am trying to understand how this calorie intake works. I have a goal of 1200 intake daily. In order to lose 1 pound per week I would need to burn 3500 calories! The whole journel thing is new as I never track my calorie intake, how should this work? Thanks everyone! Hope to hear from you all!

Hey Chely!
So in regards to your caloric intake. I highly suggest prepping the meals ahead of time and counting up the nutrition content. Also ( if your issue is not feeling hungry or not eating enough) nutrition density is a factor to take into consideration. I'd be more than glad to help you out. Along with my other MFP friends who've helpsd me perfect the process i.e macros, meal preps and workout. Feel free to add and best of luck!0 -
welcome to MFP!
weigh everything on a food scale that you eat or drink - then find the food in the MFP database, either by typing in the name or scanning its barcode. since many foods are user-added, make sure that the listing you choose has the same amount of calories per serving as the manufacturer lists on the packaging.
btw, your body burns far more than 3500 calories per week - you need to burn 3500 more calories than you consume, called a caloric deficit.
for motivation, i hang out here on the forums, join some groups here, i drop in at bodybuilding.com boards and i read about fitness equipment, different foods and health. i also work out 4x per week currently plus walks. i have a fitbit one, and others here also use a fitbit for motivation or to track calories burned when walking. we went to disneyland recently and i was happy to see that i walked 19,000 steps and burned and extra almost 400 calories that day - and my scale reflected it the next day
i use endomondo (an app) to track my weight training, circuit training and walking. it's also motivating and another way to keep track of stuff. i like endomondo more than similar apps, as it includes many more types of exercises and it will synch with some polar and other brands of heartrate monitors if you want to get more specific info about calorie burn.

Thanks! That's awesome! Yes I also have the fitbit app as well. I love it! Thank you for your advice!0
