Hi! I've been on a program called Ideal Protein for 2 months now and I've lost 17lbs. Since this program is so expensive, I've decided to continue this journey on my own. Any tips and ideas for a ketogenic diet are appreciated!

I'm an Ideal Protein dieter. There's a big Facebook group for Ideal Protein "Alternatives" - if you haven't found that already I'd check it out. Lots of IP on a budget ideas. Can't expect quite the same results, but hope that helps!

It has been 4 days and I believe that I am now in Ketosis.. need to buy the strips to know for sure but I am looking forward to seeing the results. I had a mini "keto flu" for the first few days but that has passed and I have regained my energy levels. I have been between 10-30 carbs a day for the last 4 days. I just dont know how to do this long term..

Tsartele- what Keto strips are you speaking of? As for the Keto flu, I know what you're talking about but once you're in ketosis you regain all the energy. In addition you also know you're in ketosis when you're not as hungry.

sarahgoodes- I'm disappointed that I can't continue IP but it got too expensive but I'm willing to follow the strict way of eating as close as I can. I will look at that Facebook page for sure! Thank u for sharing. Also, I know I will not lose as much weight but I will definitely try to stick to it.

What did Ideal Protein entail? I am on a low carb diet, and currently in ketosis - but never heard of the diet you're talking about? Weight loss sounds really good though - well done!

I'm at a loss to understand how you transition from a system that emphasises getting protein to one that has a goal of not getting carbs.

Regeant strips. Urine sample on the strip determines the level of ketones present in your system. It's essentially a cheap easy way to actually confirm you are in ketosis.

Warm broth does wonders for keto flu symptoms!

Never heard of Ideal Protein, but keto is what all the cool kids are doing these days. It's dieting on Hard Mode! If you need help, google "Keto Fuel". It's a chocolate keto shake mixture you can live on. It helps tide you over while you try to figure out what you can eat. Add me if you want!
