OMG I don't know what is wrong with me!!! Several weeks ago I binged and ate 3 candy bars....3!!!! I haven't done that since I was a kid during Halloween. I just bought some candy and haven't eaten yet and I don't need it!!! I want it so bad but I know I'll feel guilty if I eat even once piece of it! I don't deprive myself of foods, so I don't know why I'm having this uncontrollable urge to eat all this candy! I don't know how to help me move past this feeling. If I can learn to overcome this feeling, I can conquer these demons. Help me, please!

throw it in the trash, give it to someone or take one bite and step on it.0
-
Smash it, flush it, destroy it, get rid of it. You don't need it!
You can do this!0 -
Take one bite and put the rest down the garbage disposal. Just know your not alone - and the best thing is you reached out for help!0
-
I say give it to someone else. For me, I've found that if I buy things like this, I'm just setting myself up for failure. It's easier for me to deal with the temptation to buy and to say NO to myself, than it is to deal with the temptation to eat.0
-
I'll usually cut a small piece off, and throw the rest away so I don't get tempted. Also, often I'll put it away somewhere and tell myself that if I still want it in an hour, I can have it. 90% of the time I forget about it. Out of sight, out of mind.0
-
Have a piece. Make sure you log it and put the rest in the freezer or give it away or something. You don't have to deprive yourself you just have to make it so you don't binge on it.0
-
Throw it out. Do you have any fruit? Can you go for a walk? Distract yourself. The feeling will pass.0
-
DONT THINK ABOUT OPENING IT AND TAKING A BITE , BECAUSE IF U HAVE ONE BITE THE YOU'LL HAVE THE 2ND , 3RD .. UNTILL YOU EAT IT ALL , SO THROW IT FROM THE WINDOW ,GIVE IT TO SOMEONE OR DO SOMETHING . because if i was you i will think about it all day long !!
so get ridd of it0 -
I'm noshing on grapes currently. Is this what a drug addict feels like? This is rediculous. Once I decided to start making lifestyle changes, I never realized how often I feel "addicted" to foods than now. I don't deprive myself, but I feel like I want to binge, but I know in the short run of today and the long run of forever, I don't want that! Is this a feeling I'm just going to have to work out myself?0
-
I say eat a piece. Quit often your body craves something cause your body needs it. And when you want something and don't eat it your more likely to eat a lot of something else to compensate for what you really want.0
-
Why throw it in the trash? If you bought it once, you're likely to buy it again. Instead, go ahead and put that candy in a clear, plain view, but surround it by other things, such as much healthier snacks, like for example, in the fridge next to your favorite fruits, or put it near objects of some sort that will remind you of how much you used to weigh when you ate such things regularly, or maybe near some sort of reminder(s) as to why you started losing the weight in the first place and gave up such things.
In short, keep it, but keep it around reminders of what you can have instead, or why you should just leave it there till it expires! (and candy takes a LONG time to expire)0 -
How many times a day do you "feel" (the stomach pain) hungry? Make sure you are eating at least 6x a day and avoiding hunger pains at all costs. Binge eating is usually due to a fungus build up in the body somewhere (fungus feeds on sugar and craves it). It also could be from not getting enough nutrition in the first part of the day (morning). Make some oatmeal with fresh fruit. You will gain energy and want to be active and the "crave" should go away...0

I do eat my meals and small snacks throughout the day, however the last week or so, I've been slacking on breakfast. I've never been a huge "wake up and eat" kind of person. And come to think of it, ever since I haven't been having breakfast, my late night hunger starts up and I start wanting to binge on certain foods. Maybe this is my missing key here.0 -
WHAT TO BUY AND EAT INSTEAD:
Just like a candy bar, but better for you:
Clif Mojo Bar - I love peanut butter pretzel, or chocolate dipped peanut butter pretzel
Clif Bar - Chocolate Peanut Crunch
BALANCE BAR (I like peanut butter)
These type bars are 200-260 cals, taste like a candy bar, BUT they are packed with protein and fiber and will give you long-lasting energy, not a sugar high that drops quickly. You will be full and satisfied.
GO NOW TO THE STORE! DROP THE CANDY IN THE TRASH ON THE WAY.
hugs! You can do it!0 -

trash it. I can do the one bite thing these days but it took me a long time to get there and you obviously are not in control. No control + candybar = guilt and remorse.0 -
I think trash it and go find something healthier to calm your craving - like the cliff bar or those other ones. Then you win!0

If these are just normal sized candy bars it's not a big deal, don't worry about it. Splurging and going over your calories every now and then isn't anything to worry about. It's the stress and anxiety afterwards that you need to let go of. I eat half a large pizza, half a serving of chicken fingers, and half a desert every few friday nights and I've been just fine. As long as you're following your calorie goal the rest of the week you should still loose a little weight or break even that week. Some days we just need to break the chains and do something that satisfies us.0

As a psychologist and counselor, the problem I have with this statement is that you have already decided you will fail. Belief and thoughts are a huge part of changing your lifestyle and until you're ready to change your beliefs about yourself and your ability to do this, there is little we can do to encourage you to make good behavioral choices. This starts with you. Are you ready to make the change?0

I think you might be onto something there -- sometimes when I don't eat breakfast I feel hungry all day, or if I have too many carbs, I will start to crave sugar. (I have to be careful with even the "best" whole grain cereals -- I have found this to be a trigger for the sweet cravings). But that's an experiment for tomorrow --
How are you feeling right now emotionally? Is this a "hunger" binge, or is this more of an emotional binge?0 -
You say you don't deprive yourself of foods, but you don't allow yoursef chocolate. That doesn't make sense.
This is about lifestyle (not diet). If you allow yourself a small piece whenever you want it (and log it), it no longer is special. Right now, you're acting like a kid who will never get candy again because you don't know when you'll be allowed. Allow it and the magic goes away. I have 3 large dark chocolate candy bars sitting on my counter because I know I can have them anytime I want. funny thing... now that I'm no longer depriving myself of them, I don't want them. The magic is gone.0 -
I think a lot of us have this problem where we're overwhelmed with trying to make a huge and difficult lifestyle change, and all of our doubts, fears, and anxieties BECOME that one candy bar. If we fail at that, we fail at it all. Overall it doesn't matter if you eat that one chocolate bar once in a while, but learning how to eat healthy snacks does matter. So if you really want that chocolate bar, then eat it, log it, and don't guilt trip yourself about it. Making a serious change takes time. If you work hard to learn what your body needs and how to feed it healthy foods and snacks then you won't even want the candy bars anymore. And if you have one once in a while you probably won't feel guilty at all because it will be a treat that you truly deserve.0

I agree! You need to give yourself treats every once in a while or you are bound to fail. We are or have made big changes. Because we are heavier then what we should be eating a candy bar or cookie or ice cream may be what got us here in the first place, so eating it now makes us feel like we are failing. When I finally let myself have the peanut butter snickers I had been dying to try I didn't feel guilty about it. I tried it, loved it and told myself that I didn't need it again anytime soon. I let myself enjoy something for the first time in a long time, up until now I always felt ashamed for eating the things I wanted because I didn't know when to stop. Like so many others are saying..... Eat it, log it and move on! The candy bar does not derail everything you have done!! It's your reward for working so hard!!!!!!0
