I looked up bacon grease and various types of oil in the database and I found the following:
Bacon grease 4g fat 39 calories
Olive oil 14g fat 120 calories
Canola oil 14g fat 120 calories
Corn oil 14g fat 120 calories
Lard 13g fat 115 calories

My question is why is bacon grease lower in fat and calories than vegetable oils or lard?

You're basically comparing one teaspoon of bacon grease to three teaspoons of the other fats.

It almost seems like you compared 1 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon.
takes 3 teaspoons to make 1 table spoon.

You are confused regardign what the database entries are. It shows calories per weight. If you eat 10 grams of bacon grease, it will be 10*39/4 calories = roighly 100. If you eat 10 grams of olive oil, it will be 10*120/14 = 85 calories.

Well yeah, anytime you compare similar items with completely different weights the one you're having less of will probably be less calories.

yea this... u need to have equal measurements to compare.

thats like comparing 4 chips to 14 chips.

I assume the weight you're quoting is of the weight of the fat content as opposed to the overall weight of the grease.

This is because that entry is assuming the bacon grease is mostly water.

Multiply 4 grams by 3.6 and you get 14.4 grams.
Multiple 39 calories by 3.6 and you get 140.4

Therefore 14.4 grams of bacon grease equals 140.4 calories ~ very close to the other oils/fats.

Stay away from the canola oil and corn oil. The rest is ok.

According to the meal plan my doctor put me on, they are "toxic". As a scientist I take this with a grain of salt...

Sure? I'm wondering if maybe it's light bacon?☺

Are you sure this doc is an actual MD or DO? Sounds like naturopathic "doctor" nonsense. Time for a new physician, if they're talking about toxins...

I'd use more than a grain of salt, if you really want to get the flavors to manifest.
