Why am I not losing weight?

I've been using myfitnesspal since November 2015, always keeping my daily calorie count at 1200 or under and running 2 miles a day, five days a week. Now, 5 months later and i've noticed minimal, if any weight loss. It's becoming frustrating as I've put in a tremendous amount of time and effort and have seen nearly no results. Any suggestions/advice would be appreciated

If you're eating that little and working out on top of it you should be losing. Hows your logging? Do you use a food scale? Use accurate entries? Use the recipe builder? Do you log your exercise calories accurately if you eat them back?0

Also, what are your stats, and how much are you looking to lose? What are you set to to lose? .5lb 2lb etc0

This will sound crazy but my story is just like yours. I was doing my thing, eating at or under my calories and nothing was happening. It was like I was gaining and losing the same 5 lbs or so. I recently got a trainer from my gym. He gave me a list of foods to eat. He upped my calorie amount per day, I almost fell over. Well, the first week I was down a few lbs and feel amazing. I always believed that eating less was better. Boy was I wrong. I am eating low calorie but nutritionally dense food. It is way too much food for me so I am never hungry. At any rate, I think I have finally found the right formula.
I eat 40% protein, 30% carbs (not bread or white carbs) 30% good fats like avocado, nuts...Keep in my I am doing weights and some cardio. I am 51. I have been around the block with this stuff. Bottom line is to fuel your body with good stuff so that it can burn more efficiently. In a few weeks, we are going to lower the carb percentage a bit so that the definition comes out.
Stop spinning your wheels. That's what I was doing.0 -
Many times when people aren't losing as they expect it comes down to logging issues. If you open your diary, you may get some help.0

If you aren't weighing your food with a food scale then most likely you are eating more than you think. If you have "cheat days" it is also possible to wipe out your weekly deficit in one meal or day.0

I agree with others, it often comes down to logging and reality inconsistencies.0

my entries are usually quite accurate, in terms of a food scale and getting specific nutrients it is difficult as i am currently a college student so i do not have that many options. A normal day for me is something like, a cup of coffee and 90 calorie breakfast bar, cheese or yogurt and fruit for lunch, and my dinners often vary but i'll usually save my carbs for dinner and have something like brown rice and broccoli0 -
Make sure that you're set to .5lb/week loss and your activity level is set appropriately.
Also, open your diary so we can see how/what you're logging so we can give you better advice:
On the Web
Click "My Home" then "Settings" then "Diary settings".
In the Android, iPad and iPhone apps
In the Menu (or "More" page) tap "Settings" then "Sharing & Privacy" then "Diary Sharing."
Select "Public" ("Friends Only" will keep us from seeing it unless we're friends)

my entries are usually quite accurate, in terms of a food scale and getting specific nutrients it is difficult as i am currently a college student so i do not have that many options. If you aren't weighing, you can't be confident that your entries are quite accurate.0 -
Hello. Some people need a booster to start loosing weight. Do not recommend chemical pills but out there are plenty of natural healthy alternatives. Personally I am into Tibetan herbs for slimming. You can do your own research about Tibetan medicine. I found few reviews on here : http://www.fitnessandlifestyle.co.uk/topic/13244-tibetan-herbs/
I am considering to buy these herbs and want to combine it with myfitnesspal so fingers crossed-5 -
Just like "FLippy1234" said , make sure you are eating healthy !!! If or when you have a treat you make sure you are not binge eating. Like do not go and eat an entire bag of chips for your treat, just take a hand full and walk away. Also don't forget that all of the little calories add up. If you are eating or munching on little things throughout the day you still need to be counting those calories because they really do add to your intake! Don't lie on your food diary either. I did that and saw no results, i was lying to myself about what i was eating and it did nothing for me except make me gain weight. If you go for a workout don't think you can eat crappy for the rest of the day because "you earned it".0

I thought I was the only one who lied to myself in the food diary!! I used to do that. I also logged every little bit of activity, like walking for 20 minutes if I went to the store and "cleaning". Surprisingly, I wasn't losing weight. Stopped doing that and stepped up my efforts to be more accurate in logging and it worked.0 -
You must be measuring/logging incorrectly or inconsistently. At 1200/day since November you should have lost even without the running. There is absolutely no other explanation.
You are simply eating too much.0 -

Agreed. It's not about eating healthy or eating more to lose weight. You're eating more calories than you are burning to lose weight. There truly is no other explanation.0 -

thank you for all this advice and help, i know you can all understand how difficult this is. I will definitely start to log more of my handfuls of pretzels or small snacks that i had previously skipped over. I normally try and log the exact type and amount of food I am eating but i guess ill be more dilligent about that as well. I have tried to consume less calories but then have found myself tired and lacking energy on my runs. I know skipping meals is highly recommended against especially when working out so I guess I'll just be more detailed with my entries and try and focus on eating the right kinds of food.0

thank you for all this advice and help, i know you can all understand how difficult this is. Sounds great. And don't try to eat less than 1200/day. It's not healthy in the long run. At your weight 1200 is about right. Good luck!0 -
Vary your runs. Intervals/sprints one day. Steady another. Add lifting possibly.
Log before you eat. Inatead of after. So everything is planned and intentional.0 -

How tall are you? Unless you are a Little Person, with this amount of calories and activity, the pounds should be melting off you.
As said previously, you are probably underestimating how much you are eating. Don't feel bad - this is very common. Now that you know what the problem is, you can fix it0 -
I also fully believe it is the quality of foods you put into your body. You can eat a hamburger and fries and stay under your calorie limit for the day, however, you are not fueling your body well. And, if that's about all that fits into your calories for the day, you will be hungry. You need to go for the low calorie, nutrient dense food. Your body will be healthy and happy and will work much better for you in fat burning, day to day life, etc...
Good luck. You can do it. Don't get too confused. Keep things simple. As I mentioned before, I am 51 and have been around this block many times...It DOES matter what you eat.0
