Calories in cooked food...

This may sound like a crazy question but I am going to ask it anyway. I know the nutrient value of foods can change when they are cooked but what about calories? For example, if I boil a potato in water with a little salt, wouldn't the end result just be the amount of calories in the potato? I looked up a boiled potato in the database and it had a crazy high calorie count, but a typical potato only has appx. 110 calories... what gives?

My safest bet is to weigh the raw vegetables and to calculate the calories for that exact amount of grams. One typical potato can differ quite a bit (100 gram vs. 300 gram), and the same goes for all other fruit and vegetables.
I don't believe it has something to do with being raw or boiled, it's just knowing the exact weight.0 -
